You got that right. I have several mule deer that gross (all in) between 186 and 195 and then they net high 160's

The worst was one that grossed (all in) 188 and netted 158

This years deer grossed (all in) 191 but will probably net about 169

It is my experience that hunting is very similar to fishing in that, 10% of hunters shoot 90% of the biggest deer.
I had 2 booners before I was 17. 1 whitetail and 1 mule. I was self taught my library of hunting books and magazines probably weighed 600lbs. I agree with your statement.
