Israel and UAE signed a peace agreement
That’s a great news! This along deserve a Nobel Peace prize for the person who brokered this deal! I wanna see how it’s going to happen!

This is good because it is going to stop any further annexation, plus it puts Iran on notice that they cannot bully Arab states into their way of thinking, as they have Israel on their side. Hopefully other Arab states in the Gulf region follow suit.
A writer in the NY Times out it this way...
"The U.A.E. and Israel and the U.S. on Thursday showed — at least for one brief shining moment — that the past does not always have to bury the future, that the haters and dividers don’t always have to win."
This is potentially bigger than many realize.
Iran, Russia, and Turkey are not at all happy about this.

Trump apparently brokered this deal, his opponents are going to have fits.

Why would they have fits? Non-Annexation is exactly the course that the Democrats wanted. Makes it easier for them when Biden takes office in January. Gives the US much needed credibility in that area of the world which was lost when Trump, against ALL the advice of his military, literally abandoned their Kurdish allies who fought so hard in both Iraq and Syria.

Trump may have done what he did, but, Bush and Obama set it up to fail to start with, by not having a plan for Iraq after the invasion, then by pulling out and creating the clusterflop that Trump inherited. They lost credibility with Obama to start with, when they pulled out. Bush and Obama both let Iran gain influence in Iraq, they knew what was happening, and didn't do anything about it. That story sure isn't over yet.

If Trump came up with a cure for cancer, his opponents would find a down side. Not a Trump fan either, but US politics border on open warfare. Netanyahu probably has the most to gain here, the man is in a desperate situation, which was probably the deciding factor in renouncing annexation, a total about face from his history. As for abandoning allies, Trump is hardly the first American president to do that.

That’s is correct, Trump is the one who is brokered the deal. As I said, that along is a Nobel Prize material. Will she’ll see...
Meanwhile, the democrats ( some of them, we all know who) are already spewing their venom...
I also haven’t heard much about this on any mass media outlets, crickets....

Your last statement is a straw-man. Two wrongs don't equal a right, nor do they nullify the current effects of the wrong of abandoning the Kurds. BTW, what other allies have the US abandoned in modern times. Not saying you are wrong, I'm just curious.

There is no doubt that Trump's complete and utter ignorance on "how things are done" (or not done more precisely by previous administrations) certainly turned out on this one.
Not sure how Kushner's prince buddy in Saudi will react - they are not Israel fans - but at least the UAE has bridged that gap and is talking with the Jewish State. That's a start. A good start. Let's see what Saudi says when they do say something - should be interesting.
Now if Kushner and Pompeo can convince the Saudi's to have the same attitude (and at least try and reestablish diplomatic relations) maybe with both the UAE and Saudi on board we can see real, long lasting change.
Iran is a non starter - they are too far gone and we don't have any influence there like we do with the UAE or Saudi.
2/3 out of three big powers would be the turning point in my opinion …..
Either way - this is significant …………. Trump deserves some gratitude for his part in this.

And the sad part is that if the government tells us that it is for our safety, even some AO members will support it.

Bill says otherwise.
As for the peace treaty? Hopefully it is in earnest and not just a ploy to circumvent national defences.

In Realpolitik, there is no right or wrong, only expediency. Bush left the Kurds to the tender mercies of Sadam and Nixon, the South Vietnamese to the communists.
