What was your all time favorite vehicle and why? What is the story? Is it because of what you did with it? Is it because of connections with people in your past? Does it take you back in time? Do you like the latest gadjets or performance features? Is it just something you wanted ever since you were a kid?

At the time I owned them, each was just what I wanted: ‘63 Chev SS 2dr HT : Datsun 280Z: Toyota Supra : Dodge Stealth. It was all about performance and style. I may indulge myself one more time with a Lexus 430SC retractable HT V8 RWD...classy old school.

1970 Duster 340 4 speed. It was my first vehicle, and was purchased with a blown clutch , and was parked in a potato patch. I was 15, and had to go through the vehicle, replace the clutch, and do many small repairs to get it road worthy. My family ran a repair shop, so the tools and equipment were available, but I had to do the work myself. I also did all servicing and repairs on my own vehicle.

Impala. Loved the rumble of the that V8 though a throaty muffler.
Have always regretted not being handy with wrenches or body tools ... just farm boy level.
For years I lusted after a ‘61 Vette and now that I can afford one, lost the fire in my belly. Got to say the driving position in the sports cars makes getting out a bit more of a challenge these days.

A buddy had a (about) a ‘70 Firebird with a (think it was) 396. Wicked.
There sure is appeal to the RWD.

1969 Mustang Mach I. Acapulco Blue.
Which I got when I was 14. Won't tell the whole story here.
My older brother and I found a wrecked 1971 Boss 351 Mustang a few years later. Swapped that motor into the car in place of the 351 Windsor.
I am lucky to be alive to tell the story today.

That’s another nice one. Man they made some sweet cars 67 to 1970.

I really like the 2004-2006 Mercedes E500 wagon. Its a great car. Plenty of room to do things with someone else that description would get me another penalty for. Also works well for camping.

The weight distribution is great for fast handling.

I've driven that car through blizzards that left many people stranded. The AWD system is great on it. And it holds very very well on gravel.

It has the last of the pretty simple mercedes 5L engines with one of the most reliable transmissions put into a car.

I have memories with that car, but I have trouble writing about them.

My first serious car, a 1969 Lotus Cortina that I rallied for three years.
Also a 1972 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider. It had the most pleasant memories.
Took many road trips in it to places like California, Nevada and Arizona.
I was the editor of the newsletter for the Edmonton Alfa Club and attended many Alfista (what Alfa fanatics are called) meets throughout western Canada and U.S.

76’ Bronco ranger was all time fav. Honda Civic was fun, 67’ mustang fastback was too attractive to the police, wife’s 280zx was stolen 3 times. A few 60’s fairlanes, falcons, and comets taught me how to keep things running.

Oh man, bring back the talon tsi and the stealth twin turbos! The 280 and the gen 1 rx7’s too! Very cool cars. Kid behind my house just picked up a sweet low miles owner gen 1 first year production rx7. Another unique one that makes me smile is the fiero’s. The 6.6 liter trans ams. Spent some time in a white one with full red interior and hood decals. A few 280’s. Pines about the talons and stealths. Have a big sweet spot for the early fox body mustangs too, the svo, any four eyes with t-roofs, all the 89-93 gt’s and cobras.

When it came to drive legally I bought a Q code (non ram air) 70 Mach 1, 428cj, 4 spd toploader, 4.11 rear. Calypso Coral orange, was a real handful for a new driver with a mullet.

Wasn’t a cheap car even in 1988 and I pumped a lot of gas to pay that loan off to the parents, but good times.

On a side note, bank of Mom said “you want to have money to buy all kinds of cars, own a care home” She wasn’t lying, even in the 80s she did very well.

68 Camero, my dad thought I was a fool when I bought it. He was right, when I started building my first home a year later and used it as tow vehicle for my trailer to haul lumber. Big V8 sure had lots of power though and Hurst shifter sure sorted out the gears.

77 firebird. When I was a kid I watched smoky and the bandit and I was just amazed at this car. Burnouts galore. I could watch that car all day long out running the police. Still to this day I love that car.

A few of you,I can't believe your first rides! Haha very lucky to be alive. When I was a young fellow you just were not allowed stuff like that. Haha had to be sensible. Good on gas and stuff. Seemed like everyone I knew were driving 6 cylinders, 3 on the tree. Gas was cheap and nobody I knew could afford to buy it.

That movie affected so many people. 40 years later and I can still quote Jackie Gleason from that movie. I've even knew a hutterite that left the colony because if he stayed there he would never own a trans am. Haha for me snowmans truck was the star of the show. Its amazing how movies and TV can affect us when we are young.

Oh definitely. It's almost like you're living in the moment forever. I also liked Bullitt. A lot. But bandits firebird trans am... dang that was a sexy car.

I only remember a few as being outstanding and that was mostly because of my age and the eras. Loved those small blocks.

64 Chevy Impala. 4 second freefall to the windshield in the event of a head on collision.

69 Camaro Z28

70 Boss 302. Anyone got a 429 version they'd like to sell for cheap?

06 BMW M3. Best go-cart I ever drove.

How about what Vanishing Point did for the 70 Challenger RT?

I know what you mean.... the cars I mentioned were my 2nd and 3rd cars.
My first car, which my parents chose was a 1972 Ford Maverick with the 170 cu.in. six and three on the tree... it literally handled worse than a rowboat in a storm.
In 48 years of driving had my only at fault accident with it. In a rainstorm made a sudden turn on Jasper Ave (Edmonton), slid and jumped the curb (very lucky no pedestrians)... and hit the Bay dept store, writing of a rear fender.
No damage to the Bay 🤣
Took me years to live that one down.

I remember when the Maverick was in its infancy, driving past a Ford dealership and seeing the window ads showing NEW Mavericks - $1,999.99.

They were a bargain, sorta, in a K car kinda way, at that price, and if I remember correctly came in a 302 option later. Or maybe that was the Comet, or as we called it, the Mercury Vomit.

I’m surprised no mentions of a Buick Grand National? One of my boys had one...fairly gutsy when it was spun up.

Yup...with financing mine was $2700.
Today that wouldn’t buy a set of good tires and rims!
I wanted the Maverick Grabber but the parents said it cost too much...another $400.
What was funny was the reason they settled on the Maverick over the Pinto...at the time Ford was advertising the Maverick as the ‘North American Volvo’.
It wasn’t 🤣
