Don’t think I’ve ever seen them before. They look a bit like a blueberry. Tell me more. Where in general, foothills/mountains or all over Alberta? What do they taste like?

Do I have to wear a mask? If the answer is yes then no.

I've always liked "Huckleberry Hound"
Have had a lot of different berries and berry pies over the years but not a Huckleberry one. Now ya got my taste buds up. Gotta go hunting and not just for fish

There is a restaurant in Wetaskawin called Huckleberry Cafe that serves Huckleberry pie at least part of the year. Quite a feat since no one has figured out how to grow them domestically.

I will have to ask my girlfriend about that. She was raised in Wetaskiwin and she still has lots of relatives there. She might stop by on her way to Stony next week.

There are commercial pickers in BC...or there was, and in Montana I believe. We're headed out to our favorite patch to check on Monday. Last two years have been phenominal. This year if the blossoms didn't freeze and with all the moisture there could be a bumper crop!

Better be packed full of berries for the price LOL. I know someone had to pick em and transport and clean em, someone has to prepare the dough and then bake em. Yup she said she will stop to see one of her 3 sisters or brother and call the cafe and if they have em she will get
Thanks Dean2

Foothills and west have them for sure.
When we dabble on our BC Cariboo gold claims every odd year in Aug, we load up on these hucks.
Common in the fringe where the forest opens up into old cut blocks.

Never seen them before, very interesting.
What do they taste like?

We finally got enough of a harvest off of our Haskaps to make some pies.
A little more tart than saskatoon pie, but very good.

Just finished making apricot jam from our trees out front. Now THAT, is delicious!

True that they aren't cheap. Once you try one, you will happily pay twice that if you have to. It is an addiction that is hard to get rid of. Kind of like giving someone a free sample of H.

The Polebridge Market makes some amazing huckleberry bear paws. Have to wait for the border to open but they are tasty after a day fishing or hiking.

I almost feel bad getting another guy hooked on those pies. My wife made me a fresh Blueberry pie with homemade crust all from scratch yesterday. Real fond of those too.

MMMMMMMMM GOOD. Got 2 small pieces left. Should have got 2 pies LOL. There were 3 of us. 2 pcs each so far after a full meal bbq steak dinner.
Blueberry is one of my all time fav's. We as kids use to pick em in northern Ontario by the bucket full and grandma would make pies and jams.
