Default To the bucket brigade at the 54 bridge on the red deer river

If you frequent these boards just know when you guys were loading up your catch outta those buckets they did not look like pike to me. I would have stopped if that semi wasnt behind me but know I was the one blasting my horn on the way by. I took a good look at your black srt8 grand Cherokee and the grey BMW you guys were driving and if I see you there again I will be stopping in to have a look in your buckets. Makes me sick that I fish this river 3 to 4 times a week and have landed some beautiful walleye and never even removed them from the water for a picture in hopes one day maybe just maybe I can LEGALLY take ONE home to eat with the family. I assure you that if you were still there when I turned around to get plate numbers I would have phoned it in to F & W. You have been warned next time I see the vehicles there I will be making a call for a welfare check on the fish in the river.

Good on you!! I think this should happen more often. There are more and more stories of people up to no good and shady business. Maybe to assist our FW friends and aside from the RAP line we should start a public forum of these kinds of activities. The whole world is up to public shaming and outing people. Just my thoughts.

Default To the bucket

Agreed, if you find them poaching, throw the book at them. They might plead ignorance, but it’s greed that’s their problem.

Usually it’s the term used for people who illegally stock fish but to the OP it seems to mean poachers

I think the OP is talking about people catching fish(rod and reel) and keeping them in buckets to take home. Sounds like they kept multiple fish in buckets and he saw them walking to there vehicles with them??

Likely repeat offenders so I hope the OP or someone else spots these guys again and if they are poaching that F&W throws the book at them.

They were packing the walleye into the vehicles out of white buckets. My apologies for my terminology that's what my father called people who packed fish out of the Bush in buckets. But yes I will be watching for them as I know the area very well and basically every hole from here to drum I will run into them again I'm sure.

I always get suspicions when I see people fish with those big buckets. How many fish can you legally catch that you need a big bucket? What wrong with using a stringer so that everyone can see what you proudly caught? OHHH now I get the secret of the bucket where no one can see what or how many fish you have or quickly accidentally tip back into water if fisheries comes by.

gamefish, throw them in the river !!! if they are catching prussians help them carry the buckets. I use buckets when I fish for the frikkin things, the more full buckets the better! scary thing is even when you bash their skulls to muck some still jump out!!!!

Man, I have never caught anything at the bridge along 54 west of Innisfail. We have a couple other spots that produce for us, but never at that one. Interesting that people are catching enough that it's becoming a problem...
