Well, now that the incisions are healed over I can take my brace off and instead of putting a contractor grade garbage bag over my leg I'm able to prop my leg up in the tub and have a shower/bath.
6 more weeks of no weight bearing but I'm getting around a lot better, pain isn't as bad anymore so long as I don't bang it or twist it. I just gotta figure out how to get into my boat. The new rifle will definitely help pass the time until I can crawl into the boat for sure!

I'll have to wait until my son gets home, stairs are still my nemesis and I only do them if I absolutely have to. One slip up and it's back in for surgery and another 12 weeks of fun on crutches, lol.

So a 1/2 a pound. :-)
A 1/2 a pound can seem like 100 in a hunting rifle.

Ya, weird. I'll have to weigh them again on a flat surface to be sure because the wood floor has ripples in it so I'm not sure it's totally accurate, but I figure they'd both be off equally.
I gotta say though, the balance of this rifle is amazing, that's the magic of Melvins rifles. If there is another rifle made that balances as well as a Nula, I haven't held one yet. They hold so steady it blows me away.

Two very very nice rifles KURT and I think you made a great choice on the 280 ai and the 6.5 cm.I have been a fan of both the .284 caliber and 6.5 for over 45 years.Even though I like my swede and my 7mm rm I would buy your two rifles in a heart beat, great choice. Plus I may be wrong but I see only 4.8 ounces apart.

Yup, it's 4.8oz difference but that might not be totally accurate because the floor is uneven. It really feels like more.

Nice
I love it and at the same time haaaaaate it when Kurt gets a new toy! Seriously sweet rigs man. Once you Shoot the 6.5 You'll have to Pencil in times for the other one lol. I've got other rifles but I always grab my 6.5 Swede it seems When there's a tag in my pocket ... Or something just needs to . They just do the job - Efficiently effective!

nice, wouldn't want to be much lighter really, that 280 must get noticed during range time!
5.3 oz would be 1/3 rd of a pound, 4.0 oz is 1/4 lb.
Maybe the nula short in 6.5 grendel will be the full 1/2 lb lighter than the 280? Let me know when you add that one.
Or if i get my ducks in a row maybe i can let you know lol.

The 280 is tame, I can and have run 80 rounds through it in a day with no sore shoulder. It's the stock design and materials that tame it down. It's way nicer to shoot than my Winchester model 70 featherweight 280rem.

good to hear, my blaser k95 in .270 win is also tame like that, it's 6 lb 9.0 oz scoped
bare rifle with iron sights, 24" barrel, was 5 lb 7.0 oz out of the box
the blaser scope saddle is amazing but 6.5 oz and 11.5 oz vx3 2.5-8 with lr duplex, i would not want the .270 win to be any lighter, a 6.5 creedmoor barrel would be sweet but 1800 canadian, i think the .270 will be fine lol

Nice rifles Kurt
What bullet and powder combo are going to try in the 6.5.
I just started shooting the 143 eld x and imr4350 in mine.Haven't shot any game with them yet but they work great for target so far.I have bin using the nosler 129 gr LRAB for deer and 139 gr scenars in my target rifle.I hope the eldx works for game as good as the LRAB.
Good luck with new toy and keep us posted on how it shoots.

I've got a couple boxes of factory Hornady 129gr sst for barrel break in, a couple boxes of 143gr ELDX bullets and and a couple boxes of 129gr LRAB. 4350 is where I was going to start as well.
Now that I've got my new rifle I think I'm going to put the Christensen up for sale, I don't think I'll have any use for it anymore.

I just finished the barrel break in, never bothered to bring out the chrono. I'm still on crutches so the testing may not be for a while. Couldn't really shoot groups becaus I was cleaning between every shot or two or three, I was using factory hornady 129gr sst loads, a claimed 2950fps at the muzzle.

Skip the 4350 and go straight to RL26

Good God another crossfit training convert. I refuse to buy a 6.5, other than a 6.5x55 just cause I hate being part of the trendy crowd!!! Would ruin my old timer image.
I love NULAs, that one should be about perfect for an all round gun. Be interested to see how she shoots, but would really be surprised if it won't do clover leafs at 200. That said, I am sticking to my NULA in 308 and my new lightweight 7x57.
All the best with the new gun.
