Default First bow kill and first bull elk!

Got this guy last night, not big by any means but couldn't pass on him, came in 20 yards, got him through the lungs, dropped withing 30 yards... there were some big bulls around but i couldn't help myself.. came into a cow call

Not to bad for a beginner bow hunter id say!

Congrats ....never kick a gift horse in the mouth!!
The very first time I tried bow hunting elk I had a cow come in broadside at 10 yards about 30 min into my hunt I passed the gimmie wanting to wait for a bull ....well I have been waiting alright must be about 6 years (admittedly I have never put too much time in)since and still have yet to get this monkey off my back.

Default nice job

Hey, I think it's very respectable when a person doesn't get to greedy and takes an animal when the chance arrives. Thanks for sharing.

Getting any Elk with a bow is an accomplishment.

Congrats, wouldn't pass any legal elk, meat is just too good. Can't eat antlers. This guy will taste way better than tag soup.

I really hope to do the same soon, still looking for my first elk with a bow.

Yup, I learned that one the hard way too. I was stalking a big bull moose in the fog a couple seasons back, and stumbled upon a nice little Bullwinkle moose 30 yrds broadside, just stood there looking at me. And of course I passed him up, because I was after the big slob at the other end of the field. Haven't had a shot at a moose since, and of course missed out on the perfect chance. Dangit!

Anyway, very nice first bow kill and elk, that will make some fine eating! Congrats.
