Default demodectic mange

Anyone know a vet in southeast edmonton or sherwood park that has actually dealt with demodectic mange?

It's apparently not an uncommon issue with minpins, he has ear mites for sure, itchy eyes and small bald crusty patches on his body. I'm no vet, but it sure looks like he needs a diagnosis.

Thx.

If it is demodex then they get put on ivomec (prescription). It is a not so rare thing so really any Vet can deal with it.

The Wife says ear mites are rare in dogs more seen in cats. The scabs and other skin issue symptoms could be a food allergy....

In any event the dog needs to go to the Vet pronto.

As posted above,it may not be mange but food allergies. The symptems can be the same. Had a Rottie had the same issues, went to a hypo allergeniac food and problem solved. A skin scapping should be able to tell if its mange

Yeah, diet has been taken care of. The son had the poor frigger on an all poultry diet, didn't know any better. He's on orijen beef and fish right now, no more poultry for a while. Giving him raw beef and fish as well, just for the extras.

His current vet is done, no longer after tonite. He's been itching quite a bit, thought it was all diet, but when I started cleaning his ears, the discharge from his ears is definitely mites. Have a solution from the vet pharmacist to deal with it - he's only 9 pounds, but trying to wrestle him down to get these drops in takes two adults lol.

The patches of baldness are very dry, almost scablike. He's chewing on these spots, and also really scratching his eyes. I'm surprised he hasn't clawed out an eyeball.

Thats all we ever did for ear mites in cats.

Ring worm is fungal...I'd try Canesten cream or the like.
