Default ffg and fffg for 69 cal cannon

I have purchased a 69 cal traditions cannon. I have some ffg powder from my muzzle loader but I also have 3 lbs of fffg that I would like to use in . is this possiable and do I have to adjust the charge. they recommend 80 grains. would really like to know as I nolonger have my pistol that I used the ffg in.... thanks.....

As you know 3F is faster burning than 2F. In a 69 caliber rifle 3F is usable so no reason it won't work in the cannon. Fire three shoots with 80 grains of 2F and check hit location on target. I would start at 65 grains of 3F, that should be well into the safe zone. Add 5 grains at a time till 3F load hits at same elevation, you have now matched 2F velocity. My guess is about 75 grains will be the outcome.
