I couldn't find any of the 3 ttsx bullets I used on my moose this year, and they weren't pass throughs, I guess I wasn't looking hard enough.

Here is a pic of my TTSX from a moose this fall, The shot was around 100 yards. Recovered from ribs on the opposite side. This is the first TTSX I have ever recovered from a moose. Deer are always pass throughs. It was a 168 grain TTSX from a 30-06, hand loaded. Moose only traveled about 10 feet.

I've been shooting them for about six or seven years but only recovered one. This was a 180 grain at a muzzle velocity of 2850. Shot was about 15-20 yards on a deer heading away from me. I hit him roughly above the diaphragm, bullet went in and continued straight up through the spine about 24" until the curve of the neck then went through the throat and I found the bullet under the hide by his windpipe. That scale was zeroed before I put the bullet on it.

Both from same whitetail buck. Top one is 326yds entry just infront of shoulder high enough that it clipped one lung but the damage to spine dropped him right there. Bullet came to rest in hide on opposite side. Bottom is shot through back of neck on same buck at 3ft, again came to rest in hide opposite side.
308win 130gr tsx

Here's another. This one is from Africa. It was a 270 grain FB from a .375 H&H. The shot was roughly 185-200 yards. It was dug out of the hide of an Eland bull. There was a very telling bulge when we got up to it.
After cleaning it up the final weight was 269.5 grains.

That's a 225gr tsx from my 35 whelen. 25yd shot on a big black bear, shot down and hit midway of the neck and the bullet angled down thru the whole body and stopped against the hide on the belly. Rough measurement across the body showed 34" of penetration.
Muzzle velocity of 2660fps

wow a 700 yard head shot is very impressive!!!
this is the only short coming of the tsx ttsx, where velocity drops below the 2000fps~ expansion can be hit or miss. at 700 yards bullets like accubond accubon lr really shine.

Well...
The shot at 700yds was a follow up shot from the first shot. He stopped to look back while quartering away just before getting into the bush. He had a shot in him but didn't drop, the second shot was right in line but a wee bit higher than expected. A 700yd shot isn't something I'd normally take, especially for a first shot. I practice regularly out to 500, at that range my optics are good enough to identify the animal well enough to know whether or not it's a shooter. I'd rather watch him walk than have ground shrinkage.

was the first shot with a ttsx as well? where did you hit him?
no doubt i would fling lead into a buck that was wounded and making his escape good on you!

First shot was behind the front leg but at a quarting towards me angle, so it was only one lung on the back side at about 450yds, thought it would go down sooner. When he stopped before the bush to look back there wasn't much to lose by trying another shot.
First shot was a pass thru

I'm hoping to get out on the weekend to make it happen!
This bullet was from a different year, from my Cooper.
If not, I've had a heck of a season, my 12yr old tagged his first buck but that's another story I'll probably write up as a season summary thread.
