Default Moose named Belle

Three miles off the coast of nfld there is an island called Bell Island, aprox 6 miles by 2 miles--A moose made the swim, most likely for his life, with no antlers the islanders called him Belle, the name stuck when the truth came out, He hung out with the cows, during the rut.
Newfies decided he needed a girl friend, a young cow moose went into St, Johns Hr. She was transported to the island. Nothing happened. The years with the cows well?????????-----should have had a draw, he was a big one--- But those Bell Islanders would have tarred and feathered anyone who hurt belle.

Wolf packs hunted not only moose but vessels too.

Belle Island is one windy place. A moose would certainly stand out.

Very interesting history on that island and interesting tour of the iron ore mine that extends quite a ways out under the sea bed. The columns between the mined out areas are massive. There is a plaque for a diver that died exploring the mine area that is flooded under the sea bed.

We learn quite a bit on that tour. The horses they used in the mine were very well looked after. When the brought them up for rest their eyes were covered with burlap and over time the layers gradually reduced to let them get used to daylight.

In the mine museum there is a WW11 German torpedo that was shot at the ship loading quay that failed to go off. Much larger than I thought they would be.
