Never fished burbot in pigeon but should be the same as anywhere else. I like about 5-8 ft of water and keep it close to the bottom. 3 inches is pretty good as they mainly feed off the bottom. use a medium sized jig tipped with a 3 inch minnow and you should be good.

Anything you use to catch pike, set the tipup and bring it up a couple inches off the bottom. Best times are early morning, right as it's getting dark, and during dark. Rig up your tipups with a glowstick or some sort of light so you know when a flag goes off.

Default cheap way

Used to use the old green serveror line and a kids soft rubber ball for a marker.Just stick a knitting needle through the ball with attached line the soft rubber grabs the rubber so you can adjust your line really easy to diffrent depths. It makes moving around easy and changing depths. When pulled into the hole on a bite it also acts as a bouy
