Default Fall brookies

I did something I haven't done in 7 or 8 years. After working on hard farm chores in the morning and seeing how nice the weather was, I rewarded myself by heading out to a local lake for some brookie action. I didn't even leave until 1 p.m. so had the best part of the day left and fished for about 3 hours and landed 20 or so fish. The cool part is I stuck to top water only. Male brookies are so aggressive in the shallows this time of year. It makes for a completely exciting time when you slowly strip top water lures into shore and see that wake start either behind the lure of coming in from the side and wait for that hit. Some of the brookies over shot right over top of the lure. So awesome to see that kind of top water action! Love it!

Default Beautiful fish

When I was reading your post it reminded me of my first and only experience with Brookies!

And then I saw your pictures and realized I was mistaken!
(My biggest was a whole 10")

I can only imagine how crazy it would be to see one of those hogs blowup on a topwater!

For sure. Some leapt right over the lure and missed it which was still worth the price of admission. I forgot how fun they can be in the fall.
