Honestly.... those folks are expressing their fundamental democratic right and while it might seem trivial or be of lesser importance than other issues.... it is still more than 99% of Canadians of any age will do to secure their rights.
When the occupy folks hit the streets they to were mocked so were the anti-globalists and others..... seems like it doesn't matter much what folks protest over... someone will find a reason to critique that from the comfort of their home.
For many this might be their introduction to the process.
If we support the right...regardless of our feelings about their cause... maybe...just maybe they will not withdraw from the process altogether in disgust and they will carry on to do things that their parents and grandparents should have done.
Anyone that takes the time to hit the street and demand better of their government...deserves...at least.... some respect.

Not poohooing their rights
Your reading my mail ,because my first thought was their not taking it lying down
That's good . I have 3 question authority bumper stickers left for my
Grandchildren on their 16th birthday . Maybe silly was a poor choice of
Words .objectively they are protesting for the use of illegal drugs , glad
I'm not real right wing .
In 1964 I was about 2ft ahead of a police dog at a protest in Vancouver
City hall square ,it was part of the very first occupy movement in this country .
Young idealistic , not using my whole brain , but it was great .
Now if the Kerby centre ever marches , I'm with them ...

And finally...we have found the common ground that you and I can build upon.
Thanks for the response.

Not so much a protest ,more of a lets smoke some dope in public and have a party . They won't do anything to us if there's lots of us. About the same as having a sleep in day to protest having to get up in the morning.

Honestly, I don't partake. Never have. Never will. Not my thing.
But I've known many who can use marijuana, use alcohol, etc responsibly. I've known others who couldn't.
Can't see too much point blaming something for the actions of the users.
Sounds a bit like another argument, eh?

Pretty much how I see it too.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship.

I won't deny that they're exercising their right to protest, or to freedom of expression, or whatever...what they do, and how they do it is their business. With that being said, there are far more significant causes that should receive more attention/participation on a municipal/provincial/national/global level, but which go largely ignored. It seems odd that getting high should be given a higher priority than issues such as poverty, discrimination, child exploitation...or even the price of gasoline.
And yes, I'll admit to being politically apathetic. The only protest that I ever took part in was when our professors went on strike, when I was in university.

so when the time comes and the government says there wont be any hunting , or fire arms aloud in this country what is every one gonna do????
nothing I bet
at least they had the balls to do some sort of public protest
look what happened when the gay's all stuck together ,
they got gay marriages, (at least they don't reproduce)
together we stand divided we fall
the government keep us all broke by over taxing us
broke people cant afford to fight,
one thing is certain. To get 10 Canadians to agree on the same thing is to
have 9 of them die arguing about it
social re structuring, the communists (liberals) call it
