RE: Rechargeable Drill-Ice Auger
The show we saw, repeated on Saturday also, was the Real Fishing show, fishing on lake of the woods from the US side if I'm not mistaken. I tried to find something on the web but came up empty. When I first saw the set-up, I took it to be a local adaptation and perhaps that's what it is.
The drill part was a Dewalt unit, though the brand is not important, it helps to determine voltage. At the least, the rechargeable drill was an 18V unit, a 28V unit would be much better.
It would not be too much to either machine the threaded part of the auger or thread an adapter with sides or faces so it chucks nicely without slipping. If you're a contractor that already has one of these drills on hand, that would be something to try, otherwise I would not bother. You would be looking at $300 or so to get one of these larger units. Somehow I can't see my 18V Makita drill handling the ice we get up here (2'-3'), I would consider the 18V iffy.
If you do want some more info, I would email the Real Fishing show (Bob Izumi).
