Default A beauty bull trout caught today

Went out for a hike today down the athabasca and ended up catching six rainbows and this hog. It was a great hour in the one I fished. Enjoy!

Yeah fish was fine and can't make a live well got in trouble for using one at a different spot a couple of years ago that was already there. Thx for the info though I have been fishing this river for many years and they all seem fine to me and have caught the same ones a few times days apart after they were on the rocks. Nowhere else for me to take a quick pic without them swimming away on me if they are in the water. lol. thanks for all comments back though.

Nice Bull! Ya I got the same rock statement last year. It's tough when you catch something big and you are by yourself and you want that picture... and you just want to land that damn thing without breaking your tippet and trying to handle it on shore and slip out of your hand like a bar of soap.

I did learn from my comment I got last year and made myself more vigilant, maybe handle it more with my net... No feelings were hurt.

I think we all did the same thing one time or another. Maybe not catch a nice bull like that though. Good job.

You felt the need to post twice? Or just a short memory?

I'm not hating on anybody, I love seeing fish pics. I just wouldn't want to see a fish that is being released flop around in the rocks just to get a picture. A picture of a fish can be easily taken in a net, in the water, etc with no damage to the fish. Just trying to educate as was mentioned in another post...

Ah thx to those who like seeing them because I do like seeing yours to. To the haters back to the same hole I went and got done beauty rainbows and a little smaller bull. He fought harder though and longer but I'll try and get the video of me bringing him on to those bad rocks then taking done pics and releasing him and off to the races it goes. Sound good I do have footage on the last one as well but I made a point to make it a nice close up just for you guys ok? This pic of today's I was still trying to get him in. Well I don't know where that info came from above but I've had numerous fish and game look at my pics and vids and even come down and watched. Not one time have they mentioned or fined me? Strange? Oh well I just like to fish and go for them big ones legally. and put them back to get bigger for next time. I don't even like to eat smell or touch the slimey things but love the rush of hooking that one big one! Or even a little one if that's all I get. lol

Thanks for the pix Feddy.

Gee Whiz... A guy posts a picture of a fish...and..ah never mind.

Feddy: Have you driven by Apetown(sp?) lately to see what it is like after the spill?

Is any part of that spill affecting your fishing on the Athabee?

Again thanks for the pictures.

Don't sweat it Freddy, I for one would love to see more pics and video. If some people want to complain and have a fit they will most likely receive a time-out anyways.

Just for the guys out there thinking the rocks hurt them I still have to net them then set them in the rocks anyways because that's all there is unless I go up to the bank which is far away. But I'll slow down on the pics for those guys I think. Unless it's a big one ok. I love to share the fish I got with others but to many complaints. Bye till the next time

Nice fish, keep them coming. We all want to see them, some of us just really want to see fish handled as best as possible especially with protected species like bull trout. Your latest pictures already show improvement by keeping the fish in a little bit of water so good going.

One idea which I already posted but it got deleted for "derailing" is to take a picture while the fish is still in the net. I personally think it makes for a nicer photo to remember the fish by too. Something like this.

Oh give me a break. ... look at all the nsr pics of fish with silt in the fishes gills and over them. Even sturgeon and there protected..Some of you guys on here are so jealous, rude and opiniated its absolutely sickening. Take a look in the mirror and grow up. ... All of the members on here that chirp should all get suspended. .. this is supposed to be a positive forum with constructive criticism not jabs at ppl pics and handling techniques etc. So he lays fish on rocks because that's the only place. So he forgot a net or doesnt use one, That's his choice and preference.... He is fishing not you. ... When you fish do what you want, but don't rain your negative attitudes on other fishermen/ fisherwomen for doing things they please. Feddy keep posting, I got your back.

Sorry for congratulating him on doing a better job and offering an idea to potentially get even better quality photographs while decreasing fish handling effects... He said he uses a net so this seems like a logical idea to me...

Mods feel free to ban me if you feel the need. I will gladly take my helpful ideas/information and my own fish pictures elsewhere if they aren't appreciated on here anymore.

Facebook has less drama then this place does these days...
