Small Trout Lake for Drift Boat
Hi Guys,
I am looking for a small trout lake to take the drift boat out on to get the GF some practice casting and maybe even get her into some fish. Was thinking maybe Beaver lake by Sundre but was trying to think of somewhere closer to the city (Calgary)....any ideas? Winchell maybe?
I just want to find a good spot with easy access where there isnt a chance to get caught in some bad weather/rough water.
Thanks!

Beavers a great lake I take my driftboat there all the time bro. Good launch site and good spot to park the truck and trailer just on top of the hill leading into the launch.

Give Chief Hector Lake a try. Good launch, good fish, great scenery, private license required from Nakoda Lodge(right beside lake) IMO.

But keep an eagle eye on your stuff. I lost a pontoon boat there.

Hector water looks like a brown/grey mud puddle right now. The lodge is also shut down. It hasn't been stocked in about 3yr. Not sure this is your dream destination

i drove past there on Monday evening and there was a group of teenagers fishing it from shore (beside 1A).
Does this mean it's open to fish?
I suspect the folks fishing there lived in the area....maybe have permission, etc. Not sure tho...
I did see a boat (tin'r) out there the other weekend.

Fly Fishing Lakes
It is a little ways but full of small rainbows and can also be a windy location... consider Chain Lake on Highway 22. Could also round out the day by fishing Oldman River or Willow Creek.
