Default Fly fishing wabamun

Hey everyone, I'm newish to flyfishing and was thinking about trying to get into flyfishing for pike. Has anyone tried to walk and wade in wabamun?

Dont have access to a boat, and a belly boat is still a little out of budget but I'll be picking one up eventually.

Any tips would be appreciated, cheers!

I've also considered this, but I have never even been to Wab... I live near Onoway. If you wanna venture out some time, let me know... I've got waders, and that's it

I think it would be kinda tough fly fishing Wab from shore, but I do see some people giving it a go in this spot...

It appears to be a pretty popular spot, so getting there early may be key?

That place is at the mouth of the old power plant canal. I have taken pike casting flies into the point from a boat. Other place might be the trestle area south of the provincial park but limited casting room and too deep to wade.

Go to the south side near the Sundance plant. There are a few spots that are accessible. Look for reed beds. You'll drill em'

Seems like it should be doable then haha.

I'll have to give it a try on my next free weekend.

Cheers guys, thanks for the advice!
