Arrows fishtailing

I just picked up a new dozen of VAP arrows and got to test them today. Unfortunately they are fish tailing on me. Shot them side by side to be sure and the old ones shoot like bullets.

New arrows are identical to old. Size, type, length etc. Only difference is fletching colors.

Can there be that much difference in lots the performance would be that different? Any suggestions from experts on what to check first?

There must be something different other than the color of the fletch too make them fish tale. The new fletch may be heavier or not as flexible .
I assume you are speaking about plastic vanes?

Did you adjust your rest to account for the difference in diameter between the VAP’s and your old arrows?

Correct plastic vanes.

Exact same arrows so I didn't make any adjustments. Guess I should weight them and see if they are the same.

They are the same spine and length? Seems odd that a new batch would change that drastically.

If all other things are equal, I would compare the nock fit on the string; old vs new. Nocks will wear out and become loose over time. Your bow might be tuned with a loose nock as opposed to a tighter fit of the new nocks.

The nocks do fit different now that I check them. Would not have guessed. Than for the tip!

That's an odd one...my bow (tuned) shoots all sorts of different arrows (300, 340, varied lengths and weights, different nocks, 5mm, 4mm, and standard shaft size) with no issues....
I don't think a difference of nock would cause something that drastic but I am curious now..try switching the nocks and putting the old ones ok the new arrows
What colour were the old vanes? And what colour are the new vanes?

Never occurred to me that nocks could make that big a difference. Be interested to hear if switching nocks solves the problem, I am betting not. I think it is far more likely that the new arrows are miss rated for spine or there is something off in the fletching, but hey, never too old to learn something new.

It's almost certainly the string nock. This happens all the time with my longbows and recurves and it's a quick fix.

Try shooting a bare shaft arrow through part at 6ish yards and see what it does. Your fletching may be trying to correct something when it might just be the front of arrow has the incorrect weight. I ran into this issue lastnight and bare shaft tuned my arrows and it turned out that 25gr less with my set up makes a nock tare left (1") and so now I will only shoot 125gr tips and when I refletched I had absolutely no issues after.

Think I got it fixed, found a couple issues. D loop was too tight causing it to pinch. One nock was cracked ever so slightly and that one sure wobbled. I also think my eyes are getting old and simply see the new colors better so could have had some issues with the old ones due to the d loop and not necessarily detected it. Getting old sucks lol.

Got the rest adjusted, d loop fixed, new nock and looks good to go now.

Was just gonna say that I just bought another 6 vaps from Jim-Bows and noticed the nocks have been updated. They're wider now which probably caused the pinching

Yes Victory did change their nocks recently.

I need to get my d-loop adjusted too.

I switched from the slim victory nocks to their lighted nocks, which are thicker and are touching the loop on both sides before I draw. My arrows are still flying good, but it’s something that’ll give me peace of mind.
