‘92 evinrude parts

Been awhile since I’ve been on here, forgive me if this is the wrong sub to post on but I recently bought a 1992 9.9 evinrude (E1ORENA) it’s a long shaft, mint condition ran perfect…. Long story short, need it to be a short shaft as I have a 15” transom and don’t want a jack plate. Anyone have a connection for a short lower shift rod and a short drive shaft for it?

I know it’s a ways away but give Pallet’s in Saskatoon a call. Anything I have had to do with them has been awesome and they should be able to help you.

So your better off selling it and buying a used short shaft 9.9

Unfortunately, this is likely the case. The parts to do the changeover will be hard to find and really expensive.

If your motor is truly mint, it might be worth it, but otherwise, selling yours and buying one with the correct shaft length is likely the easiest and most cost effective way to solve your problem.

There should be a good market for your 20" shaft, that's a very common length for kickers.

Thanks for the info, Pallys has nothing. I can find the gear shift local for 76$, locally they want 500$ for the shaft. Which makes sense not to change it. But I will keep looking and searching for people who may be parting one.

I’m not a huge fan either, but I will say any dispute I’ve had - ebay made right. But I would ask a pile of questions before buying anything used.

Buckeye marine in Vermilion bay Northern Ontario will very likely have what your seeking they do a lot of older outboards and have a huge amount of used for parts inventory Toni or Cameron are your go to guys.
