Default Fishing/Camping near Calgary

I'm heading out after the September long weekend and want any feedback on campsites with some good trout fishing. I will take both my spinning rod for fishing from shore and my fly rod. I do have a pontoon but expect to fish from shore mostly.

I'd like to keep within 4 hours from Calgary. Can anyone suggest a solid spot (stocked or otherwise) that wont be fished out this time of year?

Many thanks!

I like going to the Castle / Beaver Mines area SW of Pincher Creek. There are stocked lakes (Beaver Mines, Beauvais, and Lees), plus a lot of rivers and streams.

Excellent. Beauvais seems like it gets good reviews. Hopefully the fishing will be good too.

I usually find that Beaver Mines is better for fishing than Beauvais is. Catching browns out of Beauvais is fun though.

Good to know. Both campgrounds are first come, first serve that time of year so I'll try there first. Good campsites?

It's been years since I camped at Beauvais, and I don't remember what the campground is like. Beaver Mines has some nice spots, and there is also random camping in the Castle area.

beauvais is nice, fishing is awesome.

I'd also like to throw in Pine Coulee if you're interested more in fishing than nice sites.

you can't keep the walleye, but the pike and burbs are no more loaded with mercury than the shrimp and other seafood you get from japan and china

Not sure about beaver mines but I know at beavois you can reserve camping spots now.
