Talking Coney Island Day

We took a trip to Coney Island as that's like what they do here
Walked the boardwalk and it was food heaven, dogs, burgs, pizza, shrimp, lobster and one of my faves....clam strips
(yes the salt shaker puked all over my wedgie fries)

Of course I shared with the fam. They tasted fresh
After a days walking the beach and checking out all the rides I knew my objective was near....a famous Coney Island hot dog.
VOILA!!

This may look like your average chili dog but its not, its Coney Isle meat sauce at least that's what they told me
Delish!!! Mission Complete. Now to walk this one off.

Default Tavern on the Green, Central Park NYC

For my daughters 18th birthday we took her to popular restaurant here in NY. They filmed such movies as Mr Popper and his Penguins, Ghostbusters and Trading Places.
For an appetizer I ordered Miso Mustard Glazed Marrow bones, delicious!

Then for main course we all had steak for two which turned out to be
2x Tomahawk steaks served with grilled asparagus, baby kale salad and either regular mac n cheese or lobster mac n cheese so we got one of each. They weren’t cheap on the lobster chunks either.

OK, I'm going to report this post to the mods! That is a terrible thing to show a guy on a low carb diet

Default Harrys Italian Pizza Bar

I took it easy for my last NYC supper and finished the trip off with another Margarita pizza.

Since Mrs Digger tells me I have to cook Sunday dinner, I made moose stir fry using the Beef and Basil stir fry recipe from the Looney Spoons cookbook (something I understand!). The whole family loved it, although the younguns figured it may have been a bit spicy. They figured I had trouble with the measuring spoons. Lol. Definitely a make again.

We just finished the first 2/3 of our traditional Christmas Eve meal. The starter was a cheese fondue with fresh baguette, baby potatoes, lightly steamed broccoli, grape tomatoes, and sweet peppers. This was followed by the main course, an oil fondue with teriyaki marinated chicken breast, scallops with garlic butter, beer battered shrimp, and my favourite... firehouse marinated venison strips!! Now we're taking a break, enjoying a dram of Balvenie 14 yr Caribbean cask, and digesting long enough to even contemplate dessert, a Toblerone chocolate fondue with fresh berries, shortbread, apples and Asian pear.
