Default How Much $$$$$

This thread is more or less just to give new people to the shooting sports an idea of what is typically spent on a firearm ( with scope/rings if applicable). So what did you'all pay for your last rig ??? Centerfire, rimfire, shotgun , front stuffer, what ever

Mine was a "Garcia" Sako finnbear with rings ,$1000.00 . Still haven't gotten scope yet but expect to get a 3.5 x 10 x 40 VXIII Leupold, $700.00

= $1700.00

My last rifle was my Sako m75 Greywolf 338-06AI that was a new 25-06, replaced barrel with new super match-grade stainless barrel, powdercoating and fluted, mounted Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 gunmetal grey scope in Sako Optilock Ringmounts.

Rifle was $1300 new, scope was a new safe queen bought off EBAY a few prior waiting for a home and the rest was $$$.

As leo mentioned in another post, another Sako m75 rifle in the works maybe for me !! shhhhhhhhhh dont tell my significant other Might have to sell one of my others first. I dont need three of the same caliber. Or maybe I do !!

I would love a new Springfield Armoury XDm 40 .

in fairness to the newbies, you dont have to spend that much to just get involved. if you plan on going out for a weekend or two to jsut whack any old deer for some sausage, savage, weatherby and others make gun and scope packages for 450-700 bucks. if you arent sure you are going to go fullbore, or just dont have 2k to toss around, you could use one of these packages and do just fine. the gun is only one of the several tools you really should have. binoculars are pretty well a must. dont ever use your riflescope as a bino and point at something you are unsure of. a decent knife is also essential. ok....back to the braggin about our gear.

Sako A7 (from 209x50) $850
Leupold vx1 3x9x40 with rings 350

Total $1200

Used Winchester 3030 - $350

But there are plenty of used rifles out there with a lot of life in them anywhere between $350-700.

Lots of options

Frankly, I see Rich (209x50) has a Sako A7 in 270wsm for sale......that would be a dandy rifle for just about anyone looking to buy.

Last new rifle......Sako 75 Finnlight in 300 WSM. Optilock rings and bases, and Bushnell 2.5-10x40 4200 scope for $1580.

This rifle is my first Sako rifle and have not fired many rounds but it seems like a sweet rifle!

My first rifle was one of those Savage hunter packages for around 600 bucke complete and it was a perfectly good rifle especially if you were just starting out.
My current Tikka T3 in .300 win mag on wood with a leupy FX III 6x42 is about 1500 bucks or so.
It is an excellent rifle and i plan on it being the last high powered rifle i buy.

I also recently purchased a Ruger 10/22 for 279 plus the Leupy FX III 6x42 scope that i put on it.

My first rifle... a great piece of equipment bought for $400 all in with ammo in '81. My last rifle...a beautiful piece of equipment bought for $2700 all in with ammo last year. You don't need to spend lots of money, just spend it wisely.

Last weeks purchase.

SPS Varmint in 243 - $550 used
VX-II 6x18 40mm - $550 used
B&C medalist stock - $250 new (to be ordered ASAP)
Tally 1piece rings/base - N/C (has a few extra sets laying around)

Both the gun and the scope were bought from AO members.
Still waiting for the scope to arrive but I'm extremely happy with the gun.

Now the search is on for reloading components.
