I'm wondering what I need to do if I'm buying a rifle through a private sale. I know the rifle is not registered and the person doesn't have a PAL. He had an FAC, but let it expire and never bothered to get a PAL. Am I going to have problems registering this rifle?
You shouldn't have a problem registering it; the amnesty is still in effect. What you might wind up needing though is an independent verifier, someone such as a gunsmith or other certified person who will be able to double check such things as make, model, calibre, serial # and barrel length for the CFC.
