Default Update - Sylvan Lake today - It's gone!

Yesterday we had a south wind, there was very little ice around the main town site, last night a system moved through with the big north blow, took a few pics this morning, this won't take long to go, I predict April 29th.

Last year I posted a few pic's when the ice was gone on May 09th!

I boated on Pigeon Lake 3 days ago. It was 1/3 ice free. I'm pretty sure it is pretty close to ice free by now. Amazing early year. Hopefully the weather doesn't get too crazy hot or we might see a major die off due to water temps. On the plus side though, the May long could be one of the better ones fishing wise.

If the forecast for next week is accurate ..... most every lake around here should be ice free .... get those tackle box's organized, spool on some fresh line and sharpen the hooks boys & gals .... opening day is counting down!

Got the boat out on Wabamun on tuesday. Was two sheets of ice remaining. One off the west point from town that stretched across to the south side, and one in the bay. Was able to follow the open areas to access the rest of the lake. Should be gone by now, as it was only 6" of candled ice and was able to easily push through it at trolling speed in every spot I yried except for one.
