Question Anyone run Cooper Discovery AT3 XLT tire?

Any real experience with this specific tire? Good bad?

My dad's got them on his 2011 f350. We do a lot of hunting with lots of gravel and tows his 11000 lb travel trailer and they are holding up well. They are also great on ice and snow as well.

Just put them on my 2022 f350, could not get the Duratracs, was told they were good but horrible tire, i took them off and will wear them out in the summer. Did some digging and found that the compound has been changed and the peeps that liked them do not like the new ones.

Hard like hockey pucks, would break traction with a big trailer hooked to it.

Hope this helps

I had a set on my 2017 f150. When they were new they worked great off-road hunting in the snow. Actually really surprised me. Year later with 60k km on them. Horrible tire. Never been stuck so much in my life seemed to west fast especially since I put on the kms. I won’t buy another set, I just wanted to change it up. My truck has duratracs on it again.

Not the exact same but I've had 35" Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX tires on my Silverado since 2014 and have had zero issues with them.

All new m&s tires should be good in snow. Any tire with 60000 k on them are half worn out. They’re not going to be as good as new ones.
There is no good all around tire. There are good snow tires, there are good mud tires, there are good rock tires and there are good hiway tires. If you want good for each situation you will need 4 different sets.
That being said, I have had very good luck with cooper discoverers of different models. They all worked good for my needs.

The reason why you hate them?

Decent for on gravel. Horrible on snow ice. Only got 70k out of them. Lost 1-2 mpg in fuel mileage. They cupped on me at 35k and it wasn’t an alignment issue. They got worse the more miles I put on them. Compound got harder. There are much better tires and brands for that matter out there.

Son put a set on his older 2WD F150 last Fall courtesy of TireBob. Driving is mostly around town (work/school), with gravel roads for hunting etc.

So far, so good. He's quite happy with them. He is careful to drive within the limitations of the vehicle and tires.

We will see how they wear!

Had them on a F350. They're quiet and handle well but wear extremely fast, i got 45k out of them but do drive a fair bit of gravel. I have Falken Wildpeaks now and so far so good.

I bought a set last fall. Hate them. Balancing issues. Second set put on under warranty. A little bit better.
Don’t recommend them.

dura tracs hope the tire is better then the guy doing the ad?

"If you love your truck let it know how you feel"??? And "those big rubber block things on the side of the tire??" Not the best sales pitch in the world...LOL.

I am following this as my 350 is in need of new rubber in spring. I have dedicated winters so that is not big on my list.
Looking to go with Toyo AT3 but difficult to find. If I can't I am leaning General Grabber AT or Falken Wildpeak.
My pin weight on toyhauler is between 2800- 3200 depending on loading so sidewall strength is important to me . I don't need super aggressive .

The wildpeak are slightly quieter than the Toyo AT3 if that matters.

Yes quiet is important out on the road. I have heard conflicting reviews on how the falken is with a lot of weight. Do you haul anything heavy to attest good or bad?

Heya - chiming in.

I put BF Goodrich T/A KO2's on my GMC Sierra. I'm in my second winter in them now and they are a great tire. There's a bit of road noise - not the loudest, but not the quietest ever - probably middle of the road (ha!) for road noise. They are very good in deeper snow, mud or ice. Got mine at Ron Hodgson, but I notice that a lot of the tire shops and even C. Tire carry them.

I'd buy them again.

They look a lot gnarlier than they are when they're actually on the truck.

https://www.bfgoodrich.ca/en/auto/ti...errain-t-a-ko2

Hope that helps provide an option for you.

For what it's worth to you, I have a ton of customers running all these tires, and the Cooper is decent for a mid level tire, but as always, no one tire has everything that satisfies everyone and unfortunately people always assume that if one person says it is great or bad or whatever, that they can expect the same.

Truth is all tires are good and bad for something, and opinions on those things will vary person to person and specific environmental use to specific environmental use. There are tires out there that if I put on 100 normal peoples trucks, 98% of the people would hate them and think they were junk, while the 2% of the people those tires are designed for will think they are the best thing in the world and never use anything else!

Be careful of opinion decisions only and focus on design and use. Just because you and you neighbour both live in the same area does not mean you will get the same results as him.

So far bout the heaviest load was around 7000 lbs but a lot of the weight was on the hitch, squatting the F350. drove about 14 hours and never noticed anything concerning.

Got Toyo M55's on one ton. Sound like a twin otter going down dry pavement but get used to it. There studded and do the job off road and in the crappy weather. Change them out for Michelin LTX in the spring.
