Default Ruger 10/22 prices?

I'm anxiously awaiting my PAL which should be arriving within the next few weeks, and I'm thinking my first purchase will be the 10/22. I was just wondering what would be the cheapest place to buy from? Wholesale has them listed at 230, but are there any other places in Edmonton I might check out?

Also, what kind of scope should I use for this, and what kind of game could I hunt?

The Ruger 10/22 is a great choice if you are wanting a semi-auto. The $230 price is the best I have seen. For a scope, I would mount a Leupold RF scope, such as the 4x or 2-7. You might also consider the 3-9 ERF but it is about twice as costly as the others. Enjoy.

X2 on the 10/22. Bought mine years ago, keeps on ticking after thousands of rounds.

When you buy a scope make sure you get one that is set to a parallax suitable for rimfire ranges, or has an adjustable objective so you can adjust it to specific ranges.

As mentioned Leupolds rimfire scopes are quality that will last a lifetime and would perfectly suit your 10/22.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've heard a lot of good things about the 10/22, so I think I'll stick with that. Plus it has lots of nice after-market stuff.

The 10/22 might have all the aftermarket parts available, but you'll need to put a lot of money into a 10/22 to get it to shoot as accurately as a 597 out of the box.

In my seemingly weekly visits over to Prophet River Firearms, I saw a bunch of 10/22's that had just come in. Clay said they were $219.00 (hardwood stock) He had some in stainless syn too. He was also saying the next lot would be 10% more as the $ has affected his costs, of course. Seems like a decent price?

I would go with Stainless Synthetic or laminated only on 22 regardless of brand.

Alot of the so called "neat" accessories for the 10/22 will no longer be available in Canada soon. The Butler Creek folding stock is no longer imported to canada and the latest is the 25 shot magazines are no longer being imported to Canada. What you see on the shelf of these items is the last of them.

Thumbs up

Hi Danno. 10/22's an excellent choice. I've got one I bought in 1985, still shoot's and work's like new. Carries what would be considered a cheap'y scope Tasco 22 Mag 3-9X32, get's the job done. I lost count of how many gopher's it's sent to the promised land. It came as a low buck Blued with your pallet wood stock in walnut stain, but still pretty. Redressed it 2 wk's back with a genuine Ruger Syn. stock, kinda like buy'in a new rifle. It's a barrel of fun!! Good Choice, I hope you get one, you'll be happy. Have Fun! Gerry.
