Where to get hides tanned, and buckskin coats made??

I couldn't find any recent threads on this, so I will ask....who does hair off hide tanning? Thought we may save a few hides from this coming hunting season, and maybe get them tanned somewhere. A friend who gave us a few tanned hides today has a bunch more that he is saving to get a buckskin coat made from, but wasn't sure who would do that.

Google Halford hides....would not surprise me if you can buy tanned leather as cheap as having your own done. I learned that lesson about 10 years ago when I had a cow hide and two deer hides tanned. The cowhide was $300 and the deer were $50 each....and the deer hides I got back didn’t have holes in the same place I put them.

To get tanned...
Buckskin Leather Company in Calgary might do tanning. Otherwise Western Fur Tannery Ltd and Edmonton Fur Tanners Ltd in Edmonton.

To get a couple buckskin coats made you might have to locate a good leather seamstress. Or get the coat patterns and stitch your own. You could try contacting the colleges and universities that offer fashion and tailoring courses. The teachers might know a few good students taking on such projects.

We heard that, too. Just not sure which one, so I'll ask around. They make leather work gloves, too!

I new a trapper years ago that used to deal with a Cardston Colony for those deerskin leather gloves, I still have a pair. Well made.
