i have one, super handy to get to areas with no launch. Sometimes use my kayak cart wheels if i am alone and need to go far.

I use a motor with mine, it doesn't row great imo. Easy to put together when you get the hang of it

My brother in radium has one. its amazing and surprisingly comfy. Pad the seats is a must though. ya 15 or 20 minutes to fully have it ready. Watch the you tube videos on them. Im a 300 pounder and no issues

Quite a few used ones for sale in Canada on Kijiji sites mostly down east or left coast.
I had done quite a bit of research and reading up on them once. I cant remember exactly where but i believe theres a dealer in Ontario and some in the US.

Was wanting a 8 footer. Things changed and it didnt work out for me. I did learn to not consider the ones which are pointed at both ends. It seems they are not nearly as stable. They generally are the old first ones i understand and some copies of originals.

Is yours the 8 footer? Man i was looking high and low for a 8 ft about 5-6 years ago. Closest i could find one was Washington and if i remember he wanted $800 for it at there door. He would not ship. And i was no longer trucking states side so a bit out of the way to pick it up. I think they discontinued making the 8 ft. to.

I bought one[12'green] in 1984.So they have been around awhile.First thing i turfed was the particle board seats. They must have added 10 lbs to it.Max.hp was a 7.5 hp honda.Motor weight was to much for the transom,so needed some added strength.Made up some carrying bars, strapped it to the side of the 5th wheel.Had many inqiring minds,if it was a surf board.Folded flat,i believe it was 4-5" thick..

Im tempted to ask if you would sell it but then im betting you wouldnt anyway.
I don’t use it much, but I do use it. I’ll hang onto it. It folds down into nothing and the 2 horse motor I got is perfect. Strap everything down onto the quad and hit some back lakes!

I figured as much. I doubt if i had one that i would part with it either. Id probably keep it at relatives down south. Throw it in truck and head to CVR when down visiting. Real handy.

Almost hijacked this thread. Sorry colvert. But there ya go,nothing wrong with them at all.
Got a friend that has one in BC which i use when we visit them. No motor just oars. You cant get any one to part with a used one easy cause they pack away in a corner so outa site when not using.
New i think id be looking down east to get one. The original Porta-Bote is made in England.

I got a 10 foot one the same as in the op
It’s the best thing I have bought for small group fishing
Mostly myself
Aerodynamic when driving
Light when carrying
Stable , I can easily stand and fish
I wouldn’t find an 8 foot model As useful for my needs
Get the full back transom around 1000$ used if you are lucky
