Default Do you like to Hunt !

if you do

Hare hunting is challenging

even Grouse are open

beautiful day for 2 Old Bro's

got my butt kicked

2 Ruffed Grouse + 7 wabbits = he wins

http://www1.agric.gov.ab.ca/$department/deptdocs.nsf/all/agdex2595

lets see if there are up to 4000 wabbits per 2km sq high cycle

we drove 20km today

this is a low cycle say 1000 per 2 km sq

how many wabbits are left

2 happy Trappers

Food for Thought

I’m just curious - what are you doing with them? Eating? Dog food?

And good shooting. I did not see a single one this year Not that I specifically looked for them. I still have one or two left in my freezer from last year. Someone needs to write up one or two really good recipes to get more people involved I made stew a couple of times last year and meh... Maybe I am doing something wrong. I heard some delicious pie recipe exists somewhere.

Hare hunting is, by far, one of my favourite hunts. It presents a good challenge where slow walking and keen observation pays off.
Went out on Saturday to show a friend how rewarding it can be - we ended up with 7 hares and lots of missed opportunities. Had one stolen by a lynx too - left it in a tree as we continued on for a short bit, came back 15 minutes later, the hare was gone and there where fresh lynx tracks.
We boned them out, ground the meat, and made patties - turned out amazing!

Try and tear the ear. If you can they are young and great breaded and fried. If not they are old and are best cooked low and slow.

Hi David, I wonder if overcast vs. sunny days are better for rabbit hunting in your experience.
