Local station went as low as 159. While Canmore was 150. Gas price goes up to 163 in Canmore local station goes 169. Really easy to tell which mom and pop stations one should support.

Just printed off the prices for a liter of regular gas in 160 counties around the world in US$. Venezula is the cheapest with largest oil reserves. We in Canada as country with 3rd largest oil reserves in world near highest in world just below only 50 countries.

I guess having an average monthly wage of $25/month helps keep operating costs down. Wonder if anything else is substandard?

I got one of those lists. There's not many countries that I'd want to live in that are cheaper than Canada. A high standard of living for the average person does that kind of thing.

Been pretty rough for a vast list of areas in northern BC, Alberta, Sask (Ft. Nelson a ghost town, places like Drayton Valley, ect...ect...ect...he. Heck, low gas prices for so long have laid a beat down on the Alberta prairies).
Let the good times roll in oil country
And buy stocks in those companies making record profits. Majority pay dividends.

You forget about the billions/trillions they made in the years prior to the 8. They did not become billion dollar companies overnight. Smart companies prepared for such instances, as did they.
Crying a sad tale of loss about the 8 horrible years they had selling 1 of the very few things the planet can not live without does not get a lot of interest in people singing a chorus.

Smart companies hold onto their money when times are lean. Oil companies are no different. Some survived, many did not. Sure you knew that though correct? 8 years of low oil prices and 15 years of low natural gas resulted in capex being shrunk immensely. That means less exploration. Wells shut in that need a workover and low prices do not justify the expense. Production drops over the years. Oilfield workers tighten their belts. Less money rolling thru the economy. It benefits no one. Ever hear of Trident? Years of natural gas being worth virtually nothing (as I said, that's been 15 years now) forced a shutdown. They walked away. Left landowners with no income for the wells on their land (good friend lost $40000/year in revenue). Starland county was left with $6 million owing (maybe was only $3 million, was one of the 2). Years of less exploration results in a shortage of commodity. Whamo, prices go up. The cycle starts all over. Alberta as a province benefits greatly. Guessing even you may benefit from a booming economy?
I hope the oil companies continue making record profits for years to come....Alberta benefits greatly.
If the oil companies do as well as you say, even thru the lean years, I'm guessing you own a lot of shares? Making money hand over fist? That's what smart people do right

Agreed...and I will add a few more companies to the list.
Pengrowth?...gone
Bonavista?...gone
Connacher?...gone
Pennwest...now called Obsidian at pennies on the dollar
Paramount energy trust...now called Perpetual at pennies on the dollar
There was no cry to help these guys when times were tough!
Would you prefer big profits, a thriving Alberta economy, albeit with higher energy prices...or companies going broke, people losing jobs and a crashing Alberta economy?
Like it has been said here...if these companies are doing so great....you should risk some money and benefit from the ride....But just remember, the ride can be both up and down.

Gas/Oil royalties pay the way in Alberta. Granted, it's pricey fueling up at the pump, but Alberta is going to be in great shape for a while to come because of it. I've said it for a long while now....high NG prices are here to stay, which means the coffers will be full

Help me Understand
All the push towards renewable energy MUST have made some of these new GREEN companies profitable, right?
I mean sure the renewable energy sector got massive subsidies for the last decade, so I am CERTAIN they paid massive dividends, paid massive Income Tax, and employed tens of thousands of people, right????
Now that there is a war in Ukraine the World gets to see how well the grand standing chest puffing Europeans have done to wean themselves off of oil and natural gas reliance over the last 10 years, right?
Maybe the Multi National Oil cos have learned how reliable North American Governments are towards the oil industry, and have decided its time for some solid profits with little to no investment in North America.
I suppose that Europe, USA and Canada COULD change their attitude towards fossil fuel companies to attract re investment of these massive profits in the places that are consuming so much oil and natural gas...
But really, these high prices and low reinvestment in North America are in a way PAYBACK for the last 8 years of punishment. Enjoy the pain or change the Government.

If you are or have been working in your name sake of FortMac, I know what the wages have been.

Rather pay $1.50 at the pump than have cheap fuel like Venezuela and make $25/month. Toss whether to buy TP or food.
Wages will follow soon....same as every other cycle
The inflation will hurt us, but than Lil Castro and his ilk for that one. Actually, thank those that voted for him and gladly took all the "free" money to sit on their asses

The Wages have never been obscene. Yearly take home is and was a reflection of the many hours spent away from home where your friends and family are. Per hour the wages were pretty standard.

That’s a product of their government, I believe about 20 years ago (before they went full socialist) they were actually pretty well off, I believe 3rd in the world for sales of f150 trucks if memory serves me correctly. Then the government came in and the rest is history… hopefully we can get rid of village idiot in charge before we follow in their footsteps.

What happened to the tax holiday on gasoline at the pumps the the provincial government put in place? When it came into effect the price of gas dropped by about 15 to 18 cents a liter.
Now within a month the price has shot back up magically by 20cents a liter overnight. While the pice of oil has not really moved significantly.
Why is the price of gas suddenly back to where it was before the tax came off?
Certainly oil companies would never take advantage of the situation and bring in an increase just because they can. Must be some logical reason , maybe the CEO of a major oil company got heartburn a week ago. That could trigger a price increase at the pumps. Ya that’s likely it.

Summer fuel cost more, Refiners reduce the chance of gas evaporation in your car during the summer by producing gasoline blends that have lower Reid vapor pressure (RVP), or lower volatility. Nothing new, cost more to produce.
