Default Grouse 248

Does anyone know if there is a reasonable place to hunt grouse in 248. I want to hunt grouse with my new .22LR, but I would also like to find a place somewhat close to Edmonton.

Default not with a .22 in WMU 248

Special Hunting Areas

In WMUs 212 and 248 the hunting of game birds is only permitted with bows and arrows, cross-bows, shotguns or a falconry bird.

In WMU 410 the hunting of game birds is permitted only with bows and arrows or a falconry bird.

I thought I had read that before, so I double checked and I could not find that under the bird regulations. I only checked online, I will take a look at the actual book.

What page is that on?

If that is the case, is there a place close to north east edmonton, that is crown land, and that I can take my .22LR out to hunt grouse?

It is online actually, under general bird regs and then right at the end under the "Special hunting areas" section.

try wmu 936. cooking lake blackfoot reserve, just east of sherwood park. you have to take a safety orientation and get a shooting permit but it is a great place for grouse.

Not upland birds!...you'll find it all in the regs. Although in 248, you must use a bow, crossbow or shotgun only. The regulations are available on line or at any place that sells licences.

Why don't you zip up north west of Whitecourt? It is close and the populations have always been great for grouse.
