Off to Cambodia for a few weeks of filter building!
Hey Guys
Well I'll be absent from here for a few week's I'm leading a team of 12 Young Adults over to Cambodia to build water projects in rural villages. But I'll be getting back for the height of bear season! Don't have to much fun without me! Have a great spring.

Travelled through Cambodia a few years ago - pretty cool place. Have ypou been before? Do not take random strolls through the jungle, countryside, or anywhere that isn't on a beaten path. Lots of unexploded ordinance.
Which part of the country are you going to be in?

Sounds like you'll be doing some good work over there ... 'Good-On-You' and your group!
We'll try not to have too much fun while you're gone, and we'll save a bear for you
Have a good experience in Cambodia (post pics), and I hope you'll be far away from the Thai border (hole lot o' *&^%$#@ goin' on there).

I'm just about to head to the airport but couldn't resist one last peek Well be mainly in Svey Rein in the SE corner opposite the conflict between Thailand. We'll also spend some time in Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat/ Siem Reap which is alittle close (ok alot closer) to the border tension. We're goign in with locals who are working for Samaritans Purse. I asked the rep for an adventure and I'm pretty sure that's what's goign to happen!

Siam Reap is a little sketchy, but Angor Watt is unbelievable - you will be blown away. To make the most of it, do not sleep in! Get up at 4am and get out there to see it all.
Phnom Penh is a little sketchy too, but you must go see S21 prison, and the killing fields. It will break your heart.
Also in Phnom Penh, there are a lot of gun ranges. There's walls full of weapons (MP5, M1, M4, M16, AK47 etc) and it's about $5 a clip I think the M1 rounds were more expensive though.
In fact, that photo in my profile? Taken in Phnom Penh. And yes, they let me fire a grenade from it
Jealous - I would love to head back to that part of the world again

Good on ya Tim! We'll say a wee prayer for your well-being on what sounds like one heck of an adventure. Enjoy the trip and we see you when you get back. God bless.

Someone asked my wife's nephew, if he was interested in shooting a bullock, with an RPG. He wasn't.

Yeah, was offered the same! Was also offered the option of using a flame thrower, which I kindly declined
Did throw a hand grenade though!

That is one of the countries with "Foot & Mouth" disease .
(or Hoof & Mouth, if you are a rancher).
Try not to walk in rural areas where cattle or water buffalo are, or you could come back and infect the Canadian cattle industry. England had an outbreak some years back, and they had to kill 4 million animals.
Leave your shoes on the airplane, and arrive back home in bare feet !
