The only gear ratio is 4:10
Just wonding if any one has one and what is the Fuel milage is, as dealers have no specs ?

Going by the computer on my 2013 3500 I'd get about 16l/100km. When pulling my holiday trailer I'd get 30l/100km or more. My experience after having 2 6l is that they're dogs.

Lol. Good luck. They make a lot of noise but not much action.

My average running around empty is 22 liters/100. Straight highway with the tonnou (sp) on I have gotten 17l/100. Pulling the gooseneck it runs about 25 1/2 per 100 but has been as low as 28/100 when in high winds. Mine is a 4 door, 8 foot box, single rear wheel, and have Mickey Thompson MTZ tires for summer.

I have a 2016 2500hd 6L , I am pretty happy with it. I too went from a diesel to the 6L gas. Running empty its not to bad. Im gonna be heading to Milkriver this weekend to do some goat spotting so that will be the biggest trip to date for this truck . Ill keep track of the mileage and get back to you . I did notice the mileage not being to great while hauling the trailer(s) I have but that was expected.

I own an older one. It's a 2006 with about 400k going strong. Change a water pump once, and did spark plugs.

Other than that nothing but oil and air filter changes.

Extremely reliable.

But an absolute pig on fuel. About 320 to 380km to a tank.

Goodluck.

I own a 2008 chevy 2500HD LTZ that gets 14mpg on average for highway. 8-9mpg when towing. But its a great motor and never had an issue with it yet (knock on wood). 290000km and still going strong. I get 550-600km per tank, depending how i drive

The truck handle's Imperial Oil's roads up at Esso near cold lake with no issues. I havent had to do anything to the motor or drive train yet. Just shocks, breaks and ball joints and of course the scheduled oil changes for motor, diffs and tranny. Very reliable truck and i hope to surpass 500000km with it

For what it's worth I recently picked up a one owner, 115,000 Km, 2004 2500HD 6L long box ext cab 4x4 with a 4.10 rear axle.

It runs between 17 and 18 L/100 combined city and highway. Dips to around 16.5 if I don't go into the city much. Looks like a newer one isn't much better.

In the same truck with a Duramax you can take 30% off of these numbers , sometimes more. My 2011 Duramax runs 12.5 - 13.0 in the same scenario. Dips into the 10's on the highway.

I have a 2016 2500HD.

Most of my driving is highway so i cant comment on city mileage.

Best i have got according to computer is 12.8l/100. That was empty with a canopy on going 100km.

You notice a huge difference between 100km/hr and 120km/hr with the 4:10 rear end.

I average around 18l/100 hauling a quad on the highway at 115.

Towing a 34ft holiday trailer i get around 28l/100.

My last truck was a dodge 3500 diesel and i dont really miss the deisel that much with this truck.

I have a 2012 GMC 3500 crew cab long box with the 6.0, not sure of gear ratio. I use 16-17l/100km empty and 27-28l/100km with a 3000lb camper. I usually drive 100-110 km/h. When I tow the 2000lb boat with the camper on I still get 27-28l/100km. Not sure what I get when towing the boat with the box empty, I think it's around 23-24l/100km

Just wondering if the 6.2l is an option for the larger trucks? I find it hard to grasp that the replacement for the old 7.4 and 8.1 can't do a lot better on fuel. My old 7.4s would average around 18.8l/100km empty (7000lb crewcab-longbox 4x4). With todays technology, trucks should be doing better.

Just got one in a 2017. Only 2000 kms so far. Never looked yet at mileage.

My 2009 unit had the 3.73 rear end.

The 6.2L motor - I do not think its available to the HD's.

I have a 2014 3500 6.0L. 3:73's. Lie-o-meter says 19/100, I get just under 800 kms to a fill, never really hauled anything over long distances so can't comment but gas vs diesel you only save money with a diesel until something goes wrong.

Default 2500 hd

I have an old 04 with the 6L automatic.
I average 20 MPG.
Very few repairs over the years, mostly minor front end parts.

Some friends have the same truck and get horrible mileage.

I had an 05 Sierra with the 6.0L and 4.10 gearing for about a year awhile back. I received roughly 19L/100 km city, and around 14L/100 km highway on nice Michelin highway tires. Never towed with it but I imagine it would have killed my fuel economy.

Really nice driving truck though for a daily driver. Very smooth and quiet, would buy another in a heartbeat if I didn't have my Duramax.

Good to see a post with realistic mileages on it. I have sometimes thought of getting rid of my 8 litre Dodge V-10 but anything with close to the HP and Torque gets about the same mileage, or at least the small difference would never pay off the cost of switching trucks..

Looks like the new 6.0l hasn't changed much from the old ones. Borrowed my friends 06, CC shortbox, 4x4 to pull my mid 80's 24 ft camping trailer. Going to Edson it got aprox 8 mpg. No head wind, cruise and in tow mode. I think it gets around 14 empty from what my friend said.

Have an 08 but with 3.73s. Got 15-16L/100km with highway tires, when I put slightly bigger more aggressive ones on it went to 17L. Pulling a 6500lb travel trailer I get as low as 23L/100 with no wind on the Prairie and 26-28L through the mountains.

I like the 3.73s for daily driving but when hooked up I wish I had 4.10s as I'm almost never in high gear

I have a 2003 with a 8.1 and Allison. Gets a little better now then when new but you don't have a 8.1 for mileage. For example a couple years ago Moose hunting ( bush roads mud then dry, etc ) we were adding 5 gallons every 38 km on average.................

Around town/Hwy I get about 10m/Gal if I keep my foot out of it.

Dang. From the other 8.1L owners I've heard from, they say they get on average only a hair worse fuel economy than a 6.0L, and it's only when they're really baggin' 'em do they start to seriously suck up fuel.

Been a six liter guy since 99. They suck on fuel milage but you can set your watch on them...500,000 km ain't out of the question. Transfer case maybe the weak point on the 2500 HD. Excellent motor. Can buy 5 old six liter 3/4 ton chev gas pots for the price of one duramax. Take your pick. The gas pot will pull too, just gear down.

This is pretty much right in line with the new to me 2011 Sierra 3500hd extended cab long box. Also carry a truck camper while pulling a boat.

Have a 2007 1500HD w/6 liter, get 14.7 per 100 km or 16 miles per gallon.

The 6.2 engine is only available with the 1500, GM should offer this engine in the 3/4 ton, heard the 6.2 is great on fuel, buddy has one and is getting around 24 to 26 miles Per gallon.

Yup and only in the top of the line loaded trucks, like I really need to park a friggin' Denali in a cow barn. I'm pretty much done with diesel pickups, too much up front cost.

the reason dealers can't tell you what the average mpg is on a heavy duty truck is because there are too many applications and usage for an accurate estimate. one guy has a welding deck and the other guy uses it like a car. it's like asking "how long is a piece of string?"
As years have passed the fuel consumption has improved on all makes, but it still all depends on what the unit is doing.
Remember, the difference between gas and diesel can really hit the pocketbook hard. Maintenance on a coal roller is three times the cost of a gas engine. but if you handle big loads on a regular basis you will wear out a gas engine three times sooner...
