Default Fly fishing --not today

Oh boy, 24th weekend. The trailer parked just down the st loaded and ready. With the forecast decided to stay at home. With the rain beating against the windows ,so far that was a wise decision. The better half off with the girls, exercise class. Now what?? Oh yes lets get some vise time,No better way to spend a rainy 24th and tie some of my favourites.Tidy up, and check all fishing gear, clean and oil all reels---Its going to break, wont be long now,and i will be cranking em to the net, under that beautiful Alberta sun-----

Hey Bud!

Your neighbours are just playing with you by spraying your windows with their garden hose!

If you are in Alberta, I would really, really like to know where the down pour is, or the forecast for a rainy weekend ....

AND BESIDES!!! This is the MAY long weekend! It MUST snow / rain / hurricane somewhere in Alberta! Its a given around these parts!

Now go camping, pull out your accordion, sing around a smouldering poplar wood campfire while throwing empties everywhere, to AT LEAST 4 in the morning. Then rev the heck out of your boat motor as you leave for the day of fishing (That's another given around these parts!)

Retired when I turned 71 so I have to admit that you're smarter than me in some aspects. I still have difficulty calling it the May 24 weekend when May 24 is still a week away.

Yeah, it's good to be able to pick the days to go fishing, instead of having to compete with the weekend crowds. I've been on the local trout lakes with the canoe and fly rods since April 18, yet to be skunked but only one >12 fish day so far.

Shucks, I was hoping to get at least another bite today.

Muir Lake was SLOW today, with a beastly SE wind that left nowhere to hide. Managed one 14 inch 'bow and saw another good 'bow caught. Whole bunch of fly fishers put in at ~10:30 am and the same whole bunch, including me. took out at ~2:00 pm! At least it didn't rain or snow!
