Default 12ga 870 recoil pad is hard

Just noticed the recoil pad on my 870 is hard. It’s the original. Can anyone recommend a soft one. Thank you.

Sporting Clay Decellerator maybe. I’m not a shotgun guy, but that’s the ones I like

Depending on the year the drop and butt profile have changed. I had an 870 from the late 60's and one from the early 80's. I could swap the furniture but there was a definite difference.

Aesthetics aside, I would recommend a pacmeyer slip on pad to ensure a snug fit. But length of pull may change a bit. (May have to shave a bit off the end of the stock).

Note on fit; the new 870s don't fit quite the same as the old (pre 2005-ish) guns. It may be factor of weight and balance but I just can't put a finger on it. It's like driving the same truck for five years and then having someone move the seat and mirrors and then trying to get everything back the way it was supposed to be.

Yeah, Colin and his tangents...

I think I have seen them in certain series of 870's
Personally I use grind to fit pads
