X2

Unbelievably rediculous specially this day on age to rely on one source without any backup.

I only got an email saying the results were ready... and been scratching my head trying to figure out if i was the only one not able to reach them. Figured it was probably getting slammed by the other curious albertan hunters, and was overloaded... had no idea hell broke loose in Calgary. Thank you outdoorsmenforum for having the answers!

The radio report said extensive water damage because the sprinklers came on.

You got that right, I refresh about every 3 min. I got the bookmark on my iPhone too so if I'm away from my desk I can check.

The water damage is to the building core power. there are no sprinklers in the data center they use Gas and other types of dry fire pervention methods.

Not sure on how the government does their backup system. Use to work at a company that has their server at IBM in Shaw. This located on the second floor of the building. We pull out backup tapes every single day as part of our DRP(disaster recovery plan) and store this on our own vault. Most company rely on courier services or iron mountain for them to do this. I notice during those times that some backup for storage have been sitting there for days or weeks not being pick by this third party service . Hoping not one of those are for RELM

DRP ( Disaster Recovery Plan) is hard sell to any company when you bring it out on the table. Most reaction I got is it is too costly, It won’t happen here and the sad part would be when they look at you as if you are from outer space. This is one example where you could give them the moon and sing” I told you so”.

This is all depend on the IM department of the company. I know one company that went beyond. They have a server just sitting on a remote place that can be use when this things will happen to their provider. They even have set up a accommodation for 10 personnel including basic necessities.

Part of a DRP is the location of storage. There is this one big record storage company, which I know most company uses it, as it a trademark for records storage. The funny part is, this located 10 meters away from a train tracks. Train carry the most hazardous material and in bulk so, if there will be train derailment your guess is good as mine.

All are 999 on the draws anyway.

Then the building would be burnt to the ground by disgruntled hunters.

Man, what a coincidence it happened yesterday! I can't focus on work as I am constantly refreshing. Oh well I'll just wait until someone else gets on.
