Default Sask or BC family fishing lodge

Hi guys,
Ive searched the net and the forum and i like what sask has to offer. But i like BC too.

Family of 4, with 2 little girls(3 and 1)
Looking for a resort or lodge in sask or BC.
Drive-in
Within 12 hrs of Red Deer.
Preferred fish walleye, perch or trout.
Would like newer, clean, up to date cabins.

The wife is a bit of a clean freak!

Any recommendations?

So far Tobin Lake resort and Jan Lake have caught my eye!
Any one with first hand knowledge of the cabins?

Any other suggestions are very welcome

Jan Lake is really nice and family orientated. Collins Camp at Besnard lake sask has nice up to date cabins, a store, and nice shower facilities as well and their prices are a little more reasonable. I have seen quite a few families up their while i drag my old man out on the lake to catch some walleys.

I think you would get alot more out of Saskatchewan then BC. Just my opionion. Putting kids on lots of walleye will do the trick. Plus walleye tastes a hundred times better then trout

Depends on time of year as early ice off trout can be quiet productive, but he is right walleye tastes so much better then trout. Also, not sure of the qualtiy of lodges in sask(never been to one) to accommodate the wife and little kids, a coastal lodge in BC would probably be more to their liking.

Default Tobin

The cabins at Tobin Lake Resort are pretty nice and fairly clean for the most part. Cabins #16 & #17 are probably the best for a young family (larger in size) if you decide to go to Tobin pm me for some info, lake can be a lot of fun!

I second Besnard lake but I stay at the besnard lake lodge, not collins. Have been there for 15 years and it always impresses me.

Northern Cross Resorts on Canada's Lake of Islands "Lac Des Iles" in Meadow Lake Provincial Park is a very family oriented site. You have access to all the Meadow Lake Park lakes fropm there, and a few others. See here:

Last Mountain Lake...nuff said! 8 hours from Calgary, huge fish, pike, walleye, carp and perch. Plenty of family stuff to do, beaches, golfing and nice restaurants...oh and did I mention big fish, double digit walleye are common and the big pike action is off the hook!

Default camping

Thompson's camp at Missinipe, part of adventure destinations group..CAN'T BE BEAT. fish the Churchill river or take a fly out for the day. 7 hrs from Lloyd. I go up on two trips every spring with two different crews. It's a walleye haven. we stay in motorhome on first trip and camp on an island on second trip. There is also luxurious camps to stay if you want, which we did use for watching the hockey games in past, that was until we had a guy walk through our campsite( beside Robertson falls) talking on a cell phone. Cell service, laptop, Hockey game at camp in middle of nowhere. Gotta luv it.

Dan have you thought about a fly in fishing trip for your family in the NWT?

Hi Buckbrushoutdoors,
What are the age of the kids? It depends on wheter they have to have there own airplane seat by law. All kids under the age 6 are free.
