Sylvan Lake – Trick or Treat – End of Season Whites
Oct 27, Bty day, should I cut the grass or go fishin, did both, took the float tube out at 2:30 stayed till 5:00 pm, there was no wind lake was like glass & warm, most action was the last hour of fishin, caught 6 Whites, 1 on Muddler Minnow pattern in the shallows & 5 on Mr. Twister. Didn’t see many breaking the surface today, had fun working the jig in 7-8 fow over rock sand rubble not far from the lighthouse. Kept two, the smaller one with red eye was a female I was a bit surprised she basically spawned out, thought they normally spawned in mid/late November, learned something new today.
That’s the NEWS from Sylvan, season closes here at the end of the month.
A few pics to share.
Cheers
David
Smallest White I caught this year, just a baby!
Much Better ....
These worked Today
The big one was the Male, not a bad size for Sylvan.
From the Filleting Board in to the Fry pan
The Mrs enjoyed some fresh fish treats tonight.

Man, I enjoy your pics but you gotta start downsizing them! They take forever to open.

Great pictures Zip, my season is over now that the boat is tucked away, the float tube seems like a great way to get extra time fishing before freeze up. What's your favourite way to prepare whitefish?

Nice work Zip! It was a fabulous day for sure. I spent mine planning 25 trees...wishing I was out there.
That is a nice white for Sylvan. Very nice.
Sounds like early ice is likely this year. I hope you get the chance for a few more fish fries for the Mrs before heading South

Thanks for this thread and pics Zip>
I always appreciate your commentary for Sylvan...you are the expert on that lake.
And that pumpkin-specced jig of yours (or whatever color or pattern that is) is definitely the pattern of choice for those whites when spinning.
Thanks again!
