Was there about 5 years ago and went down to the marina and booked a trip with the guys down there, full day for $400 on a panga. Caught the same as what you have in your pics, Pargo and Jack Crevalle, missed out on the Roosters though, we also got a pile of Spanish mackerel. Listen to the guys, if they say they are not catching anything at the Banks or Corbetena then they aren't.

If you're staying in Puerto Vallarta then I don't really have any idea from shore but we did see a lot of locals hand-lining from the rocks. If you are staying in Nuevo Vallarta, they usually don't like you fishing from the beach on the resorts so stick to where the vacant lots are between resorts. Slip sinker and bait, (take some squid from the buffet) and toss it out there. We also fished off the rocks with the locals at the entrance to the Nuevo marina, which was right next to our hotel on one trip. Early in the mornings before the beach gets busy was best. GL!

Was there in Nuevo a couple years ago i could not cast far enough without a surf rod but i took a kayak out and jigged with leadhead and rubber minnows and caught boat loads of fish. Had 1oz heads to keep them down in current, the fish there took all my burkly gulps they would rip them right off the jig. I might have caught two fish per rubber. Everything was great till i stayed out to long and the waves got big and swamped me on the way in, i lost everything to davy joneses locker. I am going back this year with some different equipment. I also
Did the group fishing trip with a charter(mikes fishing) payed $100 for the day they stick you with a group of people i had five people on our big boat, all but two got sick so two of us caught all the fish. We got a 100lb mako
Shark and a bunch of black tuna.

I fish Mazatlan a few years ago, I ended up bait fishing a lot It took 3oz to hold the bottom, but a few evenings we laied into saltwater catfish. Not big but fun. I did have a surf rod and still could have used another 20-30 yards

The sexy surf fish are not around December - April but I still had fun.

Best shore place in area I've heard about for shore fishing or fly fishing is out past Bucerias at Punta de Mita. I'm sure there are others, but that is the place I've read about and been directed to.

I was there two years ago and got into them right of the beach in bucerias.

Caught one rooster and a pile of fish i did not know the names of.
All i had was a 3 OZ weight slip rigged to a small bait hook. Would grab fresh shrimp from the guys in the kitchen at the resort.

Was alot of fun. Nothing of any considerable size mind you but i had a fish on every 30 minutes or so. A case of pacifico, my surf rod, and a chair and my day was all but pooched

Was down there in June 09 for a wedding and meet a bunch of people from Boston who annually go down there for 2 weeks at a time. After begging for 3 days one of the guys girlfriends didn't want to head out and she let me use her surf rod and bag full of huge top water crankbaits...at 5am the following morning we headed out about an hour south of PV to an endless beach backing on to an endless jungle. 10 or so fisherman action all day...Roosters, Jacks, Cubera, you name it we caught it! Chucking an 11' rod with 2oz cranks was tough, by noon my hands and wrists were shot but I caught a 45lbs Rooster along with 5 of his buddies so who cares! From what I got from those guys and they knew what there talking about, location and more importantly time of year is the key to catching fish from the beach down there...having said that find some rocks launch a 1oz silver and blue crocodile and I like your chances!!
