Default Streams or rivers along the 40 for trout tomorrow?

After running an errand in Calgary tomorrow morning I have the rest of the day to fish on the way back to Macleod. This heat has me wanting to head into the mountains in search of trout. Not looking to catch a big monster, just looking for little panfish and an excuse to walk around in the bush. Would it be worth my while to hit up some of the streams along highway 40? Where should I hook onto it on my way from Calgary? Should I be targeting rivers instead of a stream? It will be my first time stream or river fishing in 20 years, and after unsuccessful attempts at Police Outpost Lake, the Oldman River and Beauvais Lake, tomorrow might be the day I catch my first fish in Alberta and only my second fish of the year. I miss the taste of shore lunch trout or pike. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
