Default Anyone fished Europe?

So last night I asked for info on south east Asia. Wife and I are planning a trip to western/Central Europe for July next year and would like to know if anyone has any tips or info. I know a fair bit about the Nordic countries, but would anyone be able to give info on Germany, France or the lowland countries? Asking the locals doesnt help as I cant speak German or Dutch.

If you could be a bit more specific on locations i could at least give you an idea of what to expect and what you can catch.

Cool

lots in both, mostly course fish, some pike and zander (walleyes bigger brother). the perch get massive, the carp also. in germany you dont just show up buy a license and fish. it is very expensive and needs a fair bit of research as things will have changed since 97 . holland is amazing for pike &zander. the canals basically move with very wary fish. chumming is normal, some waters are pay to fish . canal poles are almost a must in some waters, feel free to pm if you wish more info.

Ditto on the expense in Germany. If you get a chance to go to Ireland and fish the Shannon River system, especially Lough Derg, your in for a treat.

Atlantic salmon, perch to 6 lbs (I've caught a 3.5 lb one), pike to 35 lbs (my cousin has it mounted) and zander (walleye).

Strange thing is, they jig for pike, and troll for perch. Seriously.

I know all about Germanys high prices etc. I used to be a victim err citizen of Denmarks socialist system of charging out the rear for anything. Don't even think about getting a deer license in Germany.
Our plan was to visit family in southern Denmark on the German border and take the train to Bremen, Rotterdam and Brussels over 3 weeks.
I hear there are monster sized pike in Germany.
How are the rivers for trout? I always hit the Gudenåen in Denmark or fish for seatrout, which are basically ocean going brown trout.

Cool

only had a few chances to fish for trout. mostly near sontofen(sp??)in bravaria. wow is all I can say. the british army para gliding school is in a village near sontofen (sp??) the stream thru the village held browns reaching 6lbs. the stream had a strange make up,meandering in areas and almost canal like in others. any pool with depth held trout. most pools held a large brown. one other area, I consider the best small lake I have ever had the pleasure to cast a line on. it sits on a pass into austria. I do not know the name . pike in the twentys, browns to ten + and monster perch. the lake was perhaps a mile long and half as wide. a hotel /lodge sat at the austrian end. the pass lay between sontofen and salzburg. I will get a hold of an atlas and give better directions.
