It's been a while since I've been out there, I figure it's worth a shot.

Look out for cysts in the meat from the Whites out of Marie Lake. I candle mine and then cook them well.

What Penner said. I have yet to find one without.
I tried, cut the cysts out, cooked well...but still gagged trying to down some whites from there. If you can do it, you have better mind over matter than me.

Heading out there today. Do they really taste that bad out of there? And thank you for the heads up on the cysts.

Fairly prevalent in many lakes in and around the lake land.
Eleven species of fish have been reported in Marie Lake: lake whitefish, cisco, burbot, northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker, spottail shiner, lake chub, ninespine stickleback and Iowa darter (Watters 1979; Aquat. Envir. Ltd. 1983). Cysts of the tapeworm Triaenophorus crassus have been recorded in the whitefish and cisco (Alta. Rec. Parks Wild. 1976).

Well, it was a slow day on marie today, a few hammer handles and a couple small eyes. Only fished the north side today. My first time on this lake in almost 10 years.
Still better than sitting at home, or working.

There are also Log perch in there. They are thought to only occur in Marie and Cold lake but I have found the in Manatokan and gravel rich streams around the area.

The lake produces better for the whites at the rocky points IMO. It is also excellent for burbs at night. I have have seen oodles of Cisco and whites in a day but haven't landed many. I either fish the point by the public beach on the far side of the lake or the point beside the military campsites for whites.

Thank you for your tips, but like I said is been a few years, can you narrow down where on the lake that would be. When I posted up there I normally hit cold lake, Ethel and little bear ( easy access for a broke private ) only was on marie a few times, but always heard of good fishing.
I thank you for any suggestions.
