Default Mayan fishing

Anyone have any tips/suggestions for fishing around the Mayan? Going to be in Playa del Carmen soon and looking for 2-3 days of quality fishing.

Doesn't have to be bill fishing, love bone fish.

I have fished this area several times. Wasasbi Loco (same town as Captain Ricks) is much better. You are there at the start of good fishing for billfish and mahi mahi.

A day trip to bonefish is a possibility. Best place to go is in the Sian Kaan. I went on a day trip a few years ago with Pesca Maya. They were great - caught lots of bonefish.

I was looking at Pesca Maya and was considering them. They took you into the Sian Kaan? I would rather go after bone fish personally.

Fished with them 2 years ago. They care about fishing. Best Mexican outfitter Ive been to. Mind you I like spinning rather than trolling.

Seen tons of bones but was not interested in bones, target tarpan. Biggest 3.5ft. Go for them! Shallow back waters. With these guys you tell them what you want to catch and they put you on them.

Also caught black tip shark, multiple cudas, and jacks.

Others who targeted permit and bones did very well also. For some reason those two species just dont interest me.

Id suggest 2 days at least(sleep there) because it is a drive/boat ride. We were in Tulum, so your further away. And yes it is in Sain Kaan.

Must have lots of sun screen and bug spray!

Staying in Playa del Carmen. About a two hour drive I believe?

We fished in Cuba a few years back for Tarpon. Was awesome and wouldn't mind targeting them again.
