I am sure you have checked into it but could be a side effect from a pill your on.

I take HB pressure pills for years. Always had a tickle, dry throat or a light cough. Kept Halls in business as I always had one everywhere I went. After some years the pharmacist says lets do a review. Do you have a dry throat, tickle and cough YA I do. He says it is the # 1 side effect of one pill. Go to my next physical and doc switches me.

Pharmacist says when refilling, your tickle will be gone in 2 days or less. And it was. Stupid doc could have asked me that same question years back. I had no clue the 2 were related.

I get the odd headache when my BP goes up, never have one if its good. Maybe get yours checked just in case. Good luck.

I’m going on 20 years now of the same affliction, though mine are at the back of the head.
Years and years of doctors did nothing, mostly cause they didn’t want to hear about it (sounds like you’ve also lived this).
Best relief I’ve found over the last 2 years is dry needling at the base of the skull by a physiotherapist.

Default Humidity?

Increasing the humidity where I sleep reduced headaches for me.

Default Headaches

Found out mine were from a cyst in one of my sinus. Now I use a nasal spray which limits the amount of phlegm produced that would plug the drainage and cause a build up of pressure causing the headache. My prescription is
for Avamys. There are other similar products that you can get over the counter without a prescription, ask the pharmacist.

How long does it last after u wake up? Lack of oxygen from sleep apnea can cause quite a head banger. But I suppose you already ruled that out.

Get checked for sleep apnea

The hot shower thing leads me to suspect a circulation issue. Most common by far is sleep apnea causing circulation issues in the brain.

Problem is it can be everything from muscle to sinus to brain, and there’s a lot of things to look into.

I had headaches from a messed up left trap muscle (archery) - a new pillow, chiropractor, and morning CARs (controlled articular rotations) finally sorted it out.

Keep digging until you find the answer. Good luck

Like I was saying had them every morning for over 30 years . Never was a pill popper . Only way to get them to go away was a hot shower . Keeping a hat on while i slept helped a lot until it slips off Then the headache for sure, summer and winter cap is on .
Have to wear a cap all day during the day ,or there it is again . Love it when its +40 C outside don't have to wear a cap .Lol
Was tested for sleep app. all ok there .Been to chiropractors, and had many massage
Specialist thought i might have froze my head when working in -45 to much up north but said i should be bald also . But I'm not. They all just say keep taking hot showers and wear a hat . Not fun at the kegg when they have their air on ....Lol

Must be more guys out there like me.
Kinda of wonder about all these people wearing toque in the summer .

Dehydration? Some people go thru a pile of water. I get em sometimes but mine is an exposed nerve in my sinus cavity that feels like I have a hollow behind my eye . My niece gets tremendous migraines and shes finally going for a MRI to have a look. Good luck

Have you tried vitamin D. I used to get cluster migraines. I haven't had a attack in years. I also had high iron and got that under control. I hope you find some relief.

This was me. I was stopping breathing on average 53 times an hour for approx 30-35 seconds; so I was only breathing half the night. Getting a sleep machine not only got rid of the headaches, I now feel more rested after 6 hours of sleep on the machine than 8-9 without.

Is your neck stiff or sore or top of shoulders. Maybe the way you sleep is putting pressure on a nerve. The one that runs along the top of your shoulder into your neck and head specifically. Heat and pressure fixing it would make sense. Not all chiropractors and massage people are good keep in mind. Find someone who knows nerves and get them to push on it, especially in the morning when you have the symptoms. My wife is crazy good and can fix mine in minutes. I have same issues as you but not every day.

When I start to feel that dull throb across my eyebrows, coincidentally, it is about the same time my lips are feeling dry.

Dehydration is what it is for me....

Good luck

I got a pillow off Amazon that helps. It’s a neck injury that causes headaches.
If I drink too much I stop breathing a lot at night and run out of oxygen 😜
I don’t drink too much anymore! On that note a pulse oximeter is cheap and you can test your oxygen levels… can’t hurt to try.

Ever have a chiropractor adjust your neck, pillow?, I wear a splint in my mouth because I was clinching my teeth, that was giving me headaches.

Am I alone !
You are not alone
Not every morning, but on and off
Always the sinuses
Sometimes wakes me up at 3am already
Popping a lot of pills, advice for sinuses, which I shouldn't do, but it does help after a couple of hours.advil

I used to get massive headaches mid morning that would not go away no matter how many drugs i took, how much water i drank or food I ate.

Turns out, I was clenching my teeth while doing my 5 days a week morning workout routine. Chatted with a fellow fitness buff at the gym and he had a mouth guard and told me used it for the same reason I should be using one. Picked up a mouth guard and started using it ever session. BOOM, Headaches GONE!!!!!!!

Anecdote aside, Not saying you are working out in the middle of the night without knowing it, but are you potentially Clenching or grinding your teeth while sleeping??

Heard this suggestion works- Take a warm damp cloth on the back of the neck, and a cold damp cloth on the forehead and let sit for about 15 minutes.

Second option I have heard, is think some salt water. Apparently some research shows that Salt water seems to really help with headaches and migraines.

I find if I end up sleeping on my stomach with my face essentially facing down I wake up with a headache where as if I am on my side or back then no issues. I have always attributed it to causing my sinus cavities to fill forward if that makes sense. Maybe try a new sleep position and see if it helps?

I notice that when I sleep in a hotel I don't wake up with a head ache .
Its come down to the pillow . I normally don't use a pillow as I sleep on my stomach ,and the pillow is just inches away from my head .
The last 6 months the head aches have turned from the ice cold headaches to hang over headaches . So what has happened the last 6 months is that my old feather pillow got changed with a new one . The last 5 days the pillow was placed on the dresser and no headache. Yesterday I used it and the headache came back . . Not sure if its the feathers or the chemicals they might be using on the feathers . My old pillow was not so bad because its been washed a lot .

I will be sleeping with out a feather pillow now and maybe my daytime headaches will not happen if i don't wear a hat . Fingers crossed .

I'm married to a long time headache sufferer, and specialists in her life have blamed everything from pillow/posture to hormones as a middle-aged woman. Migraines got so severe she used to be treated by a pain management specialist who volunteers with the IDF in the summer. (of all places) Literally injections right into her scalp. She has sleep apnea and while the machine helps with other stuff, hasn't changed much headache-wise.

All of that to say, the most recent thing she's looking at is a food sensitivity test, but not an allergy test covered by healthcare. This is a homeopathic test (about $500+) that we did for our daughter years ago, she was having issues not picked-up on by allergy tests. This @ cost test was actually recommended as an option by our GP and it uncovered a pile of food sensitivities, some of which gave her an almost allergic reaction. (things like garlic, rice, leafy vegetables, etc) My wife still buys/tries anything and everything, and often uses things like mint oil (from SAJE) directly onto her scalp for some relief. Pain meds get consumed at an alarming rate in our house.

Having had heat stroke a few times, I'm hyper-sensitive to dehydration and sometimes go to ridiculous (preparation) lengths to prevent it. Once bitten...

Good luck JP, only advice I can give is to keep digging. Could be one thing, could be a dozen+. Ruling out things like diet/salt/meds/hydration are actually some of the easier things to deal with obviously.
