Gopher Call

Anyone ever use one? What the best results when using the call one or two quick chirps?

Haven’t used mine in years. I can’t say it made any difference in how successful I was.

I may need to try it again.

I have a similar one. Sometimes it works well, particularly when there is little to no wind. Seems best early in the season.

Seems like sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I like one quick loud chirp. If it works you will get a few gophers stretching their necks a little higher to see what's up.

I have that exact same call. If used properly it works GREAT. If you make the wrong call it puts them down or keeps them in their holes. Next time you are in a gopher patch pay attention to the whistles a gopher makes when a hawk flies over the patch. DO NOT make that call. Now pay attention to the calls they make when chasing one aßnd other, especially the young ones. Also, during breeding season, which you have missed for this year. Duplicate both of those calls and you will see more gophers.

Bringing this post back to life. Has anyone have a recent review using the Lockhart Gopher Call? It’s the season and thinking of purchasing. Want to see if anyone is successful and happy with the call? Thank you

i usually just drive around and quietly call out......'here gopher, here gopher', and by golly they stand up to see what's going on.

Never heard of the .22 brand Lockhart, but I've used lots of other brands of empty .22 casings that bring them up. Cheap too - almost free.

I use that same call. It works extremely well! Gets them out of their holes looking around!

A couple quick chirps, some single chirps......They all work....Gophers are so inquisitive....

What is funny, when you are looking forward and chirping and you look back over your shoulder, only to find six more rats just standing there....
