Default 300 blackout

on the left is the first four shot group using 150 gr boattail softpoints 100 metres with my 300 blk. i was using 125 gr ballistic tips but the groups would be 2.5 or almost 3 inches this one is 2 and a quarter. the wind was a little less than 10 kliks from the left. i was not satisfied with the ballistic tips which are also a boattail when i looked at the groups they were just bad enough to be clearly outside my error. my scope is 1 to 4 power trijicon with a centre illuminated dot which just covers the tape square so not ideal for accuraccy testing. i blame the long throat for heavy subsonic bullets and fast twist for upsetting the tippy noslers. i would like to try 130 gr flat base. anyway good for 150 yard shooting which is about its limit anyway . its a rem 700 with 16 inch barrel

Thanks for posting. The Blackout is an interesting creation. No doubt a larger aiming point would help centre up the dot which should improve results a bit. If you keep tinkering, you will eventually find its preference.

i dont have any and i want to keep speed up to 1800 fps to over 100 metres the conceit being its a hunting capable round although i probably wont use it outside the range. anyway i just loaded some 150 gr. deep curl 30 30 they have a flat base and long bearing surface sticking out of the cartridge even when the bullet base is at the base of the neck. this time i used the same brand brass trimmed the same length will see what happens. might be something i would try later though

I would consider trying some Flat base125 gr Sierra Spitzers. They are generally pretty accurate. I got decent results from them in a 12 twist 308 Win with a big jump.

my only group 160 gr 4 shot 1.25" flextip. my fouling shot on another target landed 1 inch right so i corrected for the group i should have left the zero for the other bullets alone it would have been sweet.
