Default Wmu 316

WMU 316 I was told is rich with rabbit here in Alberta which is about an hour or so away from Cochrane. Is it open all year round to the public? I have all the gear I need just want to know if it's open to using my air rifle on rabbits. Also another question! I have a pocket stove that is the esbit with tablets. I should be able to use it no problem since there isnt a fire ban or anything correct? Thank you!

316 is pretty accessible. I haven’t been out that way in a few weeks but imagine a healthy covering of snow so I wouldn’t worry much about a fire. Other than that have at it.

It doesn't really say anything about rabbit. All the big game and birds and whatnot have a timeline, I'm just wondering if its accessible all year for rabbit.

Read the regs.

I knew about the other species can be hunted all around the year. I'm just wondering if this specific WMU is open all year round.

Eurodan,

While you are legally good to go for hunting rabbits year round,
it is bad form to hunt them when they have dependant young.

The axiom is only hunt rabbits during months that have an R.
Eg. SeptembeR through ApRil.

I would stop hunting rabbits before Easter.
It is pretty common for some of those colourful eggs to have already hatched.

Do I need to have my AHEIA course done before hunting rabbit or do I not need anything? Since rabbit doesnt require a license.
