Default Beaver Mines

Off soon for my annual Beaver Mines expedition. Gonna go hammer some Larrrrrge tiny trout this year armed with new kayak, bellyboat(which I scored at yard sale for 5$ yesterday and about 200$ worth of lures for 8$....get out there people!) and 3 month old lol. Should be interesting. Likely hit Beauvais in search of a hunky brown.

Anybody been out there lately? How's the fishn? One of if not my favorite places to relax. Great hosts, great costs, scenery to die for.

I was down a few weeks ago and the fishing was pretty good with wooly buggers and nymphs. I fish there quite often and we've caught a few pretty decent fish, as in about 16" or a little better, this year both through the ice and from belly boats.

My biggest surprise from Beaver Mines Lake happend a few years ago when I caught one of the brood trout that F&W release every year..... it was just over 8 pounds, but was pretty beat up. I can say that I didn't expect to catch my biggest rainbow from there!

Fished it many times last winter as I was boarding/skiing Castle. Nothing like a day of pow then an evening of fun ice fishing. Tasted awesome too. Released a few bulls but most were last years stocked fish. A few were probably from the year before and were 5-7 cm longer. Sunsets there in the winter are unforgettable

Never fished it in the summer but checked out the campground and was impressed.

"A few bulls"...from Beaver? I'm assuming u meant BOWS?

Scott N, an 8#er eh, that's crazy, musta been quite the pleasant surprise!

Just got back from trip, very lil fishing done, kids lol...
Lotsa small bows coming out. Getting quite weedy like most lakes right now. Never got a chance to hit up Beauvais for browns doh. Had a great time though. Spinners or power bait was working. Too windy for the fly and again...kids lol. Next week, crows nest here I come woohoo!

Bull trout. They seem be easier to catch ice fishing. Heard of a few in the 5-7 pound range but ours were just a lot bigger than the bows! You hope it's a brood stock but it still makes that little ice fishing rod bend.

Yep. Bull trout. Not rainbows and not Brookies. The one and only black put it back poster boy. As I said maybe they are more readily caught in the winter.

There are a fair amount of bulls in Beaver Mines... just don't see them often. I typically see them through the ice in the winter, or see pictures of them caught in the winter.

Some big guys in there!

Yes there are Bulls in Beaver mines! Some mornings you can watch them chase the schools of small stockers around in the shallows by the inlet creek. Quite the sight!
