2 blade broadheads

I realy don't see how a spinning 2 blade can plane. If it didn't rotate yes, but they have a very high rate of RPM and you should have more fletch surface than broadhead surface .

I think he's talking about vectors of force generated within the arrow itself, assuming that you have more than 2 Fletches inducing arrow spin.

Very well written Nekred. I too have found that the compound bows that I have used over the last 5 or so years are Most efficient at around 400 grains of arrow weight. My measure is to plot kinetic energy as a function of arrow weight with constant draw length and draw weight. Obviously I choose the arrow that yields the highest ke, as that is the one that yields the most efficient use of the available energy in my bow. Usually ends up at 400 grains arrow at around 305 fps. I only have a 28" draw, lol

I shot Bear Broadheads for years taking many deer and a moose. It was a nice solid head the sharpened easily and give great penetration. I still have a bunch. Nice to see a more modern version in that Jager. The old Howard Hill heads where also a god one.

I am using the German Kinetics Silver Flame that is the same design 2 blade, awesome broadhead. Expensive but worth it.

The Jager is a very similar design, but much cheaper than a Silver Flame, and much easier to sharpen .

I shoot STOS broadheads from my Whip longbow. Accurate, and no planing through my distance (20 metres) Got a complete pass through on WT buck at 15 yards. These are easy to sharpen, and are not deathly expensive. Bow is 45# draw, and I use POC woodies. Don't know how the larger 2 blades would fly from a fast compound bow, might have planing issues at higher arrow speeds. Shooting a heavier arrow (=lower arrow speed) might improve accuracy, and make for a quieter bow, to boot.

Had a good look at plane-ing this fall...bow 65Lb ...444 arrows ...125 gr heads...4" fletch -extreme offset

My G5 strikers 125gr 1/1/8 cut fixed.... flu like field points out to 90 yds ...thought I would try the G5 Magnums 125gr also..with a huge 1 1/2 inch cut fixed blade...

again flew like feild points out to 40 yards...than they started to plane after 40 yds..wildly

Im quite sure I could have tuned them to fly if I had the time ...but it was weeks away from hunting season and I didnt have time...

Point is same weight, arrow, length etc...more blade surface resulted in a plane...
